What is happening?
THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
(Various Roads in Smallfield, Burstow and Copthorne) (40 mph Speed Limit) Order 2024
On 03 December 2024 Surrey County Council made, with modifications, the above-named Order, under section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to (a) impose a 40mph speed limit on the lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice; (b) carry out legal drafting amendments to the “Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Bletchingley Burstow Godstone Horne Felbridge Limpsfield Nutfield and Oxted) (40 mph Speed Limit and 50 mph Speed Limit) Order 1999” insofar as it affects those lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this notice so as to reflect the change in speed limit from 50 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour; and (c) carry out legal drafting amendments to “The Surrey County Council ((Various Roads In Tandridge And Mid Sussex) (Restricted Roads 20 Mph 40 Mph And 50 Mph Speed Limits) Order 2003 (Amendment No 3) Order 2010” insofar as it affects that length of road specified in part (5) of the Schedule to this Notice. The speed limits proposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011. A copy of the made Order, which will come into operation on 06 January 2025 together with the plan showing the lengths of road to which this Order relates and a Statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected free of charge for a period of 6 weeks from 06 January 2025 at (i) Lingfield Library, The Guest House, Vicarage Road, Lingfield, Surrey, RH7 6HA, during normal opening hours; (ii) Horley Library, Unit 1 (55-57) Russell Square, Victoria Road, Horley RH6 7QH, during normal opening hours; (iii) Tandridge District Council, 8 Station Road East, Oxted, Surrey, RH8 0BT, during normal office hours; and (iv) Reception, Surrey County Council, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, by appointment only

(1) That length of Antlands Lane (B2037) Smallfield as extends from the boundary between the County of Surrey and the County of West Sussex to its junction with (B2037) Keepers Corner
(2) The entire length of Keepers Corner (B2037) Burstow
(3) That length of Keepers Corner (C67) Burstow as extends from its junction with (C67) Redehall Road, (B2037) Effingham Road and (B2037) Keepers Corner to its junction with (C67) Copthorne Bank
(4) That length of Copthorne Bank (C67) Copthorne as extends from its junction with (B2037) Keepers Corner to its junction with (X10189) Oaklands Drive
(5) That length of Effingham Road (B2037) Burstow and Copthorne as extends from its junction with (C67) Redehall Road and (B2037) Keepers Corner to a point 65 metres northwest of its junction with (D367) Effingham Lane
