Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, has made the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.591) Order 2024 which will come into operation on 15th December 2024.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time on:

  • Moorfield Crescent Lowton – both sides from its junction with Pocket Nook Lane to a point 10 metres southwest of its junction with Pocket Nook Lane
  • Pocket Nook Lane Lowton – south side from a point 10 metres northwest of its junction with Moorfield Crescent to a point 10 metres southeast of its junction with Moorfield Crescent.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce no loading at any time on:

  • Moorfield Crescent Lowton – both sides from its junction with Pocket Nook Lane to a point 10 metres southwest of its junction with Pocket Nook Lane
  • Pocket Nook Lane Lowton – south side from a point 10 metres northwest of its junction with Moorfield Crescent to a point 10 metres southeast of its junction with Moorfield Crescent.

A copy of the Order and of the relevant map may be requested by emailing d.rumsey@wigan.gov.uk.

Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained therein on the ground:

(a) that it is not within the powers of Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984; or the Traffic Management Act 2004, or

(b) that any requirement of the said Section 1, or of Part III of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or of any regulations made under the said Part III of Schedule 9 or any requirement of the 2004 Act, has not been complied with, may within six weeks of 19/11/2024 make application for the purpose to the High Court.

North Road Atherton

(Temporary Closure) Order 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (North Road Atherton) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in North Road Atherton during the period of two days commencing on 20/01/2025 from the hours of 9:30 to 15:30.

The alternative route for traffic is: Gibfield Park Avenue, Gibfield Park Way, Wigan Road, Cricketers Way, Park Road, Leigh Road and Wigan Road.

The Order is necessary to allow overhead cabling.

Wash Lane, Leigh

(Temporary Closure) Order 2024

Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Wash Lane, Leigh) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Wash Lane, Leigh commencing on 27/01/2025 to 12/02/2024.

The alternative route for traffic is: Green Lane, Holden Road, Wensleydale Road, Mallory Drive and Melverley Drive.

The Order is necessary to allow gas mains replacement works.
