ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 4(1) AND 14(1)(A) AND (C), (4) AND (7)
THE A1(M) MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 6 TO JUNCTION 10) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 202_
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited(a) intends to make an Order on the A1(M) Motorway in the Counties of Hertfordshire and Central Bedfordshire to enable maintenance and improvement works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to take place overnight between 19:00 and 06:00 (07:00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on or after 2 January 2025 and be completed by 21 December 2025.
The effect of the Order would be to impose prohibitions on the following lengths of carriageway:
(i) the A1(M) in both directions between Junction 6 and Junction 10;
(ii) all slip roads leading to and from the lengths of carriageway described above.
During any road closures traffic would be diverted via alternative junctions of the A1(M) Motorway and local roads. These diversions would clearly be indicated by traffic signs throughout the area.
The duration of each closure would vary depending on the nature of the maintenance work being undertaken on each occasion.

The closures (which would not apply to emergency service, traffic officer, works or winter maintenance vehicles), and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs. The prohibitions would only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
The Order would come into force on 27 December 2024 and have a maximum duration of 18 months.
