Wakering Road, Barking, Temporary Traffic Restrictions due to Crane Works

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC)
ORDER 2024
NOTICE OF INTENT
- NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in order to facilitate mobile crane works for tower crane erection, the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham intends to make a Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
- The order is expected to come into effect on Saturday 11th January 2025. The works are taking place in two stages and are expected for:
• The first stage of mobile crane works to take 2 days to complete beginning on Saturday 11 January 2025. Completion date estimated as Sunday 12 January 2025 with the work expected to be undertaken at all times. Backup dates of the 18–19 January and 25–26 January will be kept in case the works cannot be carried out or completed during the initial periods.
• The second stage of mobile crane works to take 2 days to complete beginning on Saturday 1 February 2025. Completion date estimated as Sunday 2 February 2025 with the work expected to be undertaken at all times. Backup dates of the 8–9 February and 15–16 February will be kept in case the works cannot be carried out or completed during the initial periods.
However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be re-introduced should further works be required.
- When the works are taking place and the appropriate traffic signs are being displayed, the Order will temporarily:
• Prohibit all vehicular traffic (except where marshals have granted access) on Wakering Road, both sides, from a point 102 metres northwest of its junction with Longbridge Road and Station Parade for 56 metres in a north-westerly direction.
• Prohibit all vehicular traffic (except where marshals have granted access) on Wakering Road, both sides, from its junction Longbridge Road and Station Parade for 102 metres in a north-westerly direction.
• Prohibit all vehicular traffic (except where marshals have granted access) on Wakering Road, both sides, from its junction Gurdwara Way to a point 158 metres northwest of its junction with Longbridge Road and Station Parade.
• Prohibit all vehicular traffic (except where marshals have granted access) on Gurdwara Way access lane to Wakering Road, from a point 14 metres south-east of its junction with Wakering Road for 28 metres in a south-easterly direction.
• Prohibit all vehicular traffic (except where marshals have granted access) on Gurdwara Way access lane to Wakering Road, from a point 42 metres south-east of its junction Wakering Road for 21.5 metres in a south-easterly direction.
• Prohibit all vehicles in the cycle lane on Gurdwara Way, south-west side, from its junction with Longbridge Road to its junction with Wakering Road.
• Suspend the One-Way Traffic along Wakering Road for its entire length.
• Prohibit all vehicles from turning left from Wakering Road into Gurdwara Way.
• Suspend the Loading Bay on Wakering Road, west side, outside No.50 Wakering Road to allow its use as a passing place.
• Prohibit all pedestrians on Wakering Road, southwest side footpath, from a point 102 metres northwest of its junction with Longbridge Road and Station Parade for 56 metres in a north-westerly direction.
- While this closure is in place, the following locations will temporarily be controlled by:
• Temporary three-way traffic lights on Gurdwara Way at its junction with the access lane to Wakering Road, Gurdwara Way from a point 52 metres west of its junction with Wakering Road, Wakering Road from a point 48 metres south of its junction with Gurdwara Way.
- Alternative routes for pedestrians
will be maintained and signed:• Via Wakering Road northeastern side footway.
- Alternative routes for vehicular traffic
will be maintained and signed:• Via Gurdwara Way, Longbridge Road, Cecil Avenue, Salisbury Avenue, and Vice Versa.
