M4 Motorway, Junction 15 To Junction 19 - Temporary Restriction And Prohibition Of Traffic For Maintenance And Improvement Works
What is happening?

THE M4 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 15 TO JUNCTION 19)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M4 Motorway in South Gloucestershire, the County of Wiltshire and the Borough of Swindon to enable maintenance and improvement works, to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to take place overnight (19.00 to 06.00) during a period starting on 1 January 2025 and ending on 23 December 2025.
The effect of the Order will be to impose restrictions and prohibitions on the following lengths of carriageway:
(i) the M4 Motorway, in both directions, between Junction 15 and Junction 19;
(ii) all slip roads leading to and from the lengths of carriageway described above.
There would also be hard shoulder running through the works.
During any road closures traffic will be diverted via alternative junctions of the M4 Motorway and local roads. These diversions will be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the area.

The duration of each closure would vary depending on the nature of the work being undertaken on each occasion.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance, or traffic officer vehicles. The restrictions and prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
The Order comes into force on 30 December 2024 and will expire on 23 December 2025.
