What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE A47 TRUNK ROAD (THORNEY TOLL TO WISBECH, CAMBRIDGESHIRE)

(40 MILES PER HOUR AND 50 MILES PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 202_

National Highways Limited(a) gives notice that it proposes to make an Order under section 84(1) (a) and (2) of, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on lengths of the A47 Trunk Road (“the A47”) in the County of Cambridgeshire.

The effect of the Order would be to impose on the A47 between Thorney Toll and Wisbech in Cambridgeshire, a speed limit of –

•     40 miles per hour, on the eastbound and westbound carriageways between points 132 metres east and 810 metres east of the centre line of its junction with Dairy Drove, Thorney Toll a total distance of 678 metres,

•     50 miles per hour, on the -

•     eastbound carriageway and westbound carriageway from a point 732 metres east of the centre line of its junction with Dairy Drove, Thorney Toll to a point 441 metres west of the centre line of its junction with Gull Road, Wisbech a total distance of 2630 metres,

•     eastbound carriageway and westbound carriageway from a point 105 metres north of its junction with the northern side of Guyhirn Roundabout to its junction with the northern side of Redmoor Lane Roundabout a distance of 6425 metres, including the circulatory carriageway of Redmoor Lane Roundabout, and

•     eastbound carriageway and westbound carriageway between their junctions with the south western side of Redmoor Lane Roundabout to its junction with the eastern side of Wisbech Roundabout a total distance of 2480 metres, including the circulatory carriageway of Wisbech Roundabout;

A copy of the proposed Order, together with a location plan and a statement of National Highways reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected during normal office hours between 28 November and 19 December 2024 at Wisbech Town Council, 1 North Brink, Wisbech PE13 1JR and King’s Lynn Library, London Road, Kings Lynn PE30 5EZ, or obtained by application to National Highways, Operations Division, Orders Section, Woodlands, Manton Lane, Bedford, MK41 7LW or by e-mailing OpsEastOrders@nationahighways.co.uk.

Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should write to National Highways Limited at the address below, stating the reasons for the objection, no later than 19 December 2024 or within 3 weeks of this publication, whichever is the latest. Information provided in response to this consultation, including personal information, may be subject to publication or disclosure in accordance with the access to information regimes (these are primarily the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOI), the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR)).
