Notice is hereby given that the Cheshire East Borough Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and of all other enabling powers proposes to make an order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic/pedestrians and restrict traffic.

This order will come into operation on Monday 13 January 2025 and will continue in force for 18 months or for such less time as is necessary to complete the work to be executed in the highway, although it is anticipated that the works will be completed by Friday 31 January 2025.

Public Rights of Way Notice

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 – Temporary Prohibition Of Pedestrians

Public Footpath No. 28 Parish of Prestbury and Public Footpath No. 21 Parish of Over Alderley

Notice is hereby given pursuant to the provisions of Section 14 (1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, that the Cheshire East Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians on the following :

That length of Public Footpath No. 28 Prestbury which commences at OS grid reference (OSGR) SJ 8805 7627 and runs in a generally south direction for approx. 120 m to the junction with Footpath No. 21 Over Alderley at OSGR SJ 8805 7612.

That length of Public Footpath No. 21 Over Alderley which commences at OSGR SJ 8805 7612 and runs in a generally south direction for approx. 360 m to OSGR SJ 8799 7584.

The closure is necessary to prevent the likelihood of danger to the public posed by a bridge that is in a poor state of repair. The Order continues the restriction that came into force on 14th November 2024 and will continue in force for a period not exceeding 6 months, or until the bridge is made safe.
