Cambridgeshire - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic For Essential Maintenance Works
What is happening?

NOTICE is given that Cambridgeshire County Council has made an Order pursuant to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which:
Cambridge Road (A10), Foxton
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-1629
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Cambridge Road (A10), Foxton as lies between points 20m either side of the railway level crossing situated there as measured from its gates or barriers.
The alternative route for vehicles is via A10 – A505 – A1301 – A1309 – A10 and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate essential maintenance works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 1 December 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 31 May 2026 whichever is the earlier.
It is anticipated that these works will be carried out overnight between 23:00hrs 1 December to 05:00hrs 2 December 2024; 22:00hrs 24 December 2024 to 1 January 2025 06:00hrs; 00:01hrs to 06:00hrs 2 January 2025; 00:01hrs to 06:00hrs 3 January 2025; 00:01hrs to 06:00hrs 5 January 2025; 02:00hrs 11 January to 02:00hrs 12 January 2025; 02:00hrs 15 February to 02:00hrs 16 February 2025.
Hauxton Road, Little Shelford (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-1633
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Hauxton Road, Little Shelford as lies between points 20m either side of the railway level crossing situated there as measured from its gates or barriers.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Hauxton Road – Newton Road – Shelford Road, Harston – B1368 – A10 – Church Road, Hauxton – High Street and vice versa. The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate essential maintenance works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 5 December 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 4 June 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out overnight between 00:01hrs and 04:30hrs 5 December 2024.
Footpaths at Abbey Place and Cody Road, Waterbeach (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE) ORDER 2024-1634
Is to stop any pedestrian from proceeding along Footpaths at Abbey Place and Cody Road, Waterbeach as lies between numbers 1 and 15.
The alternative route for pedestrians will be as signed.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 2 December 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 1 June 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 08:00hrs and 18:00hrs 2 December to 13 December 2024.
Suez Road, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-1640
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Suez Road, Cambridge as lies between number 23 and Marmora Road.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Marmora Road – Cyprus Road – Mill Road and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate relay lead supply and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 10 December 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 9 June 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 10 December and 13 December 2024.
New Road, Great Chishill (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-1641
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along New Road, Great Chishill as lies between numbers 16 and 20.
The alternative route for vehicles is via B1368 – B1039 – Heydon Road and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 17 December 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 16 June 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 09:00hrs and 17:00hrs 17 December to 18 December 2024.
Thornton Road, Girton (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-1642
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Thornton Road, Girton as lies between numbers 35 and 65.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Girton Road – A1307 – Thornton Road and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate relay lead supply and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 16 December 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 15 June 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 16 December and 19 December 2024.
Whittlesford Road, Little Shelford (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-1645
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Whittlesford Road, Little Shelford as lies between number 8 and South Lodge.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Whittlesford Road – High Street – Church Street and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 9 December 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 8 June 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 08:00hrs and 18:00hrs 9 December to 13 December 2024.
Hauxton Road, Little Shelford (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-1648
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Hauxton Road, Little Shelford as lies between Church Street and Newton Road.
The alternative route for vehicles is via High Street – Church Road, Hauxton – A10 – London Road, Harston – B1368 – Whittlesford Road, Newton – Newton Road, Whittlesford – Newton Road (C254) – Middlemoor Road – Shelford Road – Whittlesford Road, Little Shelford – Church Street and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 4 December 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 3 June 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 08:00hrs and 18:00hrs 4 December to 6 December 2024.
New Street, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-1654
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along New Street, Cambridge as lies between the junctions of Occupation Road and Sturton Street.
The alternative route for vehicles is via St Matthews Street – Petworth Street – Sturton Street and vice versa or via Sturton Street – Sleaford Street – York Street and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate carriageway maintenance and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 16 December 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 15 June 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 08:30hrs and 16:00hrs 16 December to 17 December 2024.
Woodlark Road, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-1655
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Woodlark Road, Cambridge as lies between numbers 39 and 61.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Hoadly Road – Eachard Road – Sherlock Road – Woodlark Road and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate relay lead supply and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 18 December 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 17 June 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 18 December and 20 December 2024.
Station Road & Church End, Over (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-1656
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Station Road & Church End, Over as lies between number 25 and St Marys Church.
The alternative route for vehicles is via New Road – Glover Street – Long Furlong – High Street and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate water connection and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 9 December 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 8 June 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 9 December and 20 December 2024.
Lower Park Street and Park Parade, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-1665
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Lower Park Street and Park Parade, Cambridge as lies between Number 44 and New Park Street and Number 1 and Portugal Street.
The alternative route for vehicles is via New Park Street – Portugal Street and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate electrical connection and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 9 December 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 8 June 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 9 December and 13 December 2024.
Fountain Lane, Haslingfield (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-1671
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Fountain Lane, Haslingfield as lies between numbers 12a and 22.
The alternative route for vehicles is via High Street – New Road and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate electrical connection and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 17 December 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 16 June 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 17 December and 20 December 2024.
Access will be maintained to properties affected by these orders.
The above orders shall not apply to any persons lawfully engaged in connection with any works for which these are made, any member of the Police Force, Fire and Rescue Service, Ambulance Service, a vehicle being used by Special Forces during the execution of their duties or to any person acting with the permission or upon the direction of a Police Officer in uniform.
