Surrey County Council - Multiple temporary road works

What is happening?

The Surrey County Council

Various Roads in Woking (Traffic Regulation) Order 202-

Surrey County Council in exercise of their powers under Sections 1(1) and 2(1) to (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, proposes to make the above mentioned Order. The effect of which is that: –

  1. Traffic proceeding in southbound direction on that length of Victoria Way at its junction with Forge End, shall be prohibited from making a U-Turn, so as to face or proceed in the opposite direction;
  2. Traffic proceeding in a northbound direction on that length of Victoria Way (A320) Woking at its junction with Church Street West, shall be prohibited from making a U-Turn, so as to face or proceed in the opposite direction;
  3. Traffic proceeding in Church Street West (D7281) Woking shall be prohibited from making a left turn into Victoria Way; and
  4. All vehicles proceeding in Goldsworth Road (D7244) Woking as extends westwards from its junction with Victoria Way to the entry to the turning loop in the said road shall do so only in a westerly direction.

The above restrictions shall not apply to vehicles being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes in an emergency; or in relation to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; or in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the road by or on behalf of Surrey Police. The one-way restriction specified in item (4) above shall also not apply to any road cleansing vehicles being used only between 5.30am and 7.00am on any day of the week.

Copies of plans showing the lengths of roads to which the proposed Order relates and a Statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be viewed on-line at www.surreycc.gov.uk/roads-and-transport/policies-plans-consultations/roads-and-transport-consultations  (follow the link to Woking Traffic Regulations). These documents and a copy of the proposed Order may also be viewed at (1) Reception, Surrey County Council, Quadrant Court, 35 Guildford Road, Woking, Surrey GU22 7QQ, during normal office hours; and at (2) Reception, Surrey County Council, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, by appointment.

If you wish to object to, or make representations relating to, the proposed Order, you must send the grounds for your objection or representation (including any in support), by (1) using the online form via the webpage quoted above; or (2) in writing to the undersigned at Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey GU4 7BQ by 2 January 2025.
