Canterbury, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,  makes or intends to make the following Orders.

Bekesbourne Lane, Bekesbourne, CT4 5DX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow new water connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bekesbourne Lane, Bekesbourne, from 3rd December 2024, with estimated completion by 5th December 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of 2 Springfield Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bekesbourne Lane, A257 Littlebourne Road, Canterbury Road, The Hill, High Street, Bekesbourne Lane, Bekesbourne Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Eddington Lane, Herne Bay, CT6 5TW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow drainage cleansing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Eddington Lane, Herne Bay, from 3rd December 2024, for up to one day, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junction with Eddington Way and number 52b, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Eddington Lane, Eddington Way, A2990 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, B2205 Canterbury Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet, from 16th December 2024, with estimated completion by 17th December 2024, between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Fundy, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic (excluding vehicles over 7.5 tonnes) is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, Stourmouth Road, Preston Road, The Street, Plucks Gutter, Gore Street, A253 Ramsgate Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road, Grove Ferry Hill and vice versa.

The alternative route for vehicles over 7.5 tonnes is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, The Street, Preston Lane, Preston Road, Preston Hill, A257 Goberry Hill, Roman Road, Pedding Hill, Ash Bypass, Sandwich Road, Each End, A256 Sandwich Bypass, Ramsgate Road, Richborough Way, A299 Hengist Way, Canterbury Road West, A253 Canterbury Road and A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Merton Lane, Lower Hardres, CT4 7BB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Merton Lane, Lower Hardres, from 4th December 2024, with estimated completion by 6th December 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Iffin Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Merton Lane, Iffin Lane, Chartham Downs Road, B2068 Street End, Faussett Hill, Nackington Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Nargate Street, Littlebourne, CT3 1ST (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Nargate Street, Littlebourne, from 3rd December 2024, with estimated completion by 5th December 2024, between the hours of 19:00 and 23:59, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Wickham Road, Grove Road, The Street, Preston Lane, Preston Road, Preston Hill via A257 and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Pierpoint Road, Whitstable, CT5 4QB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pierpoint Road, Whitstable, from 2nd December 2024, with estimated completion by 13th December 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 17, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pierpoint Road, Borstal Hill, Clovelly Road, Bayview Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Rochester Avenue, Canterbury, CT1 3DR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow duct works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Rochester Avenue, Canterbury, from 2nd December 2024, with estimated completion by 4th December 2024, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

Rochester Avenue will be closed between numbers 11 and 15, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic, whilst this section of road is affected, is via Rochester Avenue, Wells Avenue, Lichfield Avenue, New Dover Road (Service Road), A2050 New Dover Road and vice versa.

Rochester Avenue will also be closed outside number 24, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route whilst this section of road is affected, however residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

 

Shalloak Road, Broad Oak, CT2 0PR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Shalloak Road, Broad Oak, from 17th December 2024, with estimated completion by 18th December 2024, between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of TPS Canterbury, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Shalloak Road, Sweechgate, A291 Herne Bay Road, Sturry Hill, A28 Mill Road, Sturry Road, Vauxhall Road, Shalloak Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Shalmsford Street, Chartham, CT4 7QT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Shalmsford Street, Chartham, from 16th December 2024, for up to one day, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 141, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Shalmsford Street, A28 Ashford Road, Milton Manor Road, Cockering Road, The Crescent and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Upper Grounds, Chislet, CT3 4LX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Upper Grounds, Chislet, from 16th December 2024, with estimated completion by 20th December 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Highstead Riding Centre, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Woodlands Road, Adisham & Woodlands Lane, Bridge.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Woodlands Road, Adisham & Woodlands Lane, Bridge, from 3rd December 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The roads will be closed from the junction with Bramling Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for Woodlands Road is via Woodlands Road, The Street, Pond Hill, Adisham Downs Road, Bramling Road, Poor Start Lane, Woodlands Lane and vice versa.

The alternative route for Woodlands Lane is via Woodlands Road, The Street, Pond Hill, Adisham Downs Road, Bramling Road, Poor Start Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
