What is happening?
Essex County Council
“The Essex County Council (Epping Forest District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 28th November 2024, exact dates will be specified on one.network.
The road will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.25) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the Order:
- To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the District of Epping Forest as specified in the schedule to this Order.
- A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of roads to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping restriction will be in force.

(Western Avenue, Epping) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the Order: To temporarily close that length of Western Avenue, Epping in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 150m west at its junction with Centre Drive for a distance of approximately 130m in a westerly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 16th December 2024 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30018619654 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.
An alternative route is available via Centre Drive and vice versa (with access only into Western Avenue).
The Order will come into effect on 28th November 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Hobbs Cross Road, Theydon Garnon)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the Order: To temporarily close that length of Hobbs Cross Road, Theydon Garnon in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 380m north east of its junction with Epping Lane for a distance of approximately 360m in a north easterly then north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd December 2024 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008PTMS456452 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Hobbs Cross Road, Mount Road, Epping Lane and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 14th November 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Pecks Hill, Nazeing)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the Order: To temporarily close that length of Pecks Hill, Nazeing in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 200m north east of its junction with Maplecroft Lane for a distance of approximately 10m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd December 2024 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (Y02018799-ECRC1 – Harlaston Energy Networks Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Harlaston Energy Networks Limited.
An alternative route is available via Pecks Hill, Sedge Green, Hamlet Hill, Tylers Road, Epping Road Roundabout, Epping Road, Common Road, Nazeing Common, Middle Street, North Street and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 14th November 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Shernbroke Road & Maynard Court, Waltham Abbey)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway)
& (Honey Lane, Waltham Abbey)
(Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the Order:
- To temporarily close that length Shernbroke Road, Waltham Abbey in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Honey Lane to its junction with Hayward Court a distance of approximately 630m.
- To temporarily close that length of Maynard Court, Waltham Abbey in the District of Epping Forest, from its left most junction with Shernbroke Road for a distance approximately 15m in a northerly direction and also from its right-hand junction with Shernbroke Road for a distance of approximately 10m in a north easterly direction.
- To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction on that length of Honey Lane, Waltham Abbey, from its junction with Shernbroke Road to its other junction with Shernbroke Road, as cited in the “Epping Forest District (Sewardstone Road, Farm Hill Road, Honey Lane and Broomstick Hall Road, Waltham Abbey) (7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2002.”
- To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.
“The Essex County Council (Epping Forest District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The closure/clearway/restriction is scheduled to commence on 3rd December 2024 for 4 nights (20:00–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH23770828 & EP201EH23770822 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/clearway/restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway surfacing works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Honey Lane, Shernbroke Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 21st November 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
