York, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles
What is happening?
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that City of York Council ("the Council"), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act"), made an order on Thursday, 21 November 2024 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (5) & (6). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (7) & (8).
(1) WALMGATE, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Walmgate, York between its junctions with Margaret Street and Hope Street (closed road) during the period when sewer works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0300hrs on Monday, 25 November 2024 and ending at 0630hrs on Monday, 25 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Foss Islands Road, Peasholme Green, The Stonebow, Pavement.
(2) STATION ROAD & USHER LANE, HAXBY
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Station Road & Usher Lane, Haxby (i) on Station Road between the projected eastern boundaries of property No’s 3 & 13 and (ii) on Usher Lane between its junction with Station Road and a location 27 meters north of said junction (closed roads) during the period when sewer works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Sunday, 25 November 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Tuesday, 26 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Towthorpe Road, Strensall Road, York Road, Haxby Moor Road.
(3) OX CLOSE LANE, HESLINGTON
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Ox Close Lane, Heslington between its junction with Low Lane and a location 7 meters north-east of the projected north-eastern boundary of Property No 2, Ox-Close Cottages (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 25 November 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 29 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access for residents will be maintained throughout the works period.
(4) ST PAUL'S SQUARE, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on St Paul's Square, York (i) between its junction with Holgate Road and the projected northern boundary of property No. 36 and (ii) between the projected southern boundaries of property No’s 4 and 6 (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Tuesday, 26 November 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Tuesday, 26 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that only one area of the highway will be closed at any time during the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.
(5) LEEMAN ROAD (CONTINUATION), YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Leeman Road, York (i) between its junctions with Station Rise and Station Avenue and (ii) between points 130 metres east and 35 metres west of Marble Arch Bridge (closed roads) during the period when postal delivery works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Sunday, 01 December 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Sunday, 17 May 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure public safety. It is envisaged that Leeman Road adjacent to Memorial Gardens will be closed between 2115hrs and 0600hrs overnight every Sunday and Tuesday night for works period only. Marble Arch Tunnel will be closed overnight on Sunday and Tuesday nights after the last bus in the evening until 0600hrs for the works period only. Some further ad-hoc overnight closures will be advertised on road signs at least 10 days before. This Order continues the temporary road closure Notice which had an end date of 2359hrs on Saturday, 30 November 2024.
(6) CINDER LANE PROW 55/131/10 (CONTINUATION), YORK
This Order, with authorisation from the Secretary of State for Transport, continues in force the York (Cinder Lane PROW 55/131/10) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2022 (original Order). The effect of which is to prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Cinder Lane PROW 55/131/10, York between its junction with Leeman Road and a location 390 metres southwest of said junction (closed footpath) during the period commencing at 0001 hours on Sunday, 01 December 2024 and ending at 2359 hrs on Wednesday, 30 April 2025 (works period) or on completion of Rail Development works being undertaken thereon, whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians & cyclists will be signed during the works period.
(7) YORK ROAD LEVEL CROSSING, HAXBY
This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road at York Road Level Crossing, Haxby (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2345hrs on Saturday, 30 November 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Sunday, 01 December 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Haxby Road, York Road, The Village, Mill Lane, Wiggington Road, A1237.
(8) PASTON WALK, YORK
This Order will prohibit pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Paston Walk, York between its junction with St Benedict Road and the projected south-eastern boundary of property No. 10 St Benedict Road (closed footpath) during the period when footpath resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Tuesday, 03 December 2024 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 13 December 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the works period via St Benedict Road.
The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works of emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by ongoing works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
