What is happening?
SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Rolfe Street and Hill Street,
Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closures) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Rolfe Street at the junction of Hill Street, and Hill Street at the junction of Rolfe Street. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A traffic diversion route for the Rolfe Street closure will be signed via Tollhouse Way, Soho Way, Soho Street, Rabone Lane and vice versa. A traffic diversion route (eastbound) for access to Hill Street will be signed via Tollhouse Way and New Street. A traffic diversion route (westbound) for access to Hill Street will be signed via New Street. The existing one-way operation of Hill Street from Rolfe Street will be suspended, and two-way operation introduced for the duration of the works. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 26/11/2024 (9:30am - 3:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access to repair/replace a defective manhole frame and cover by Severn Trent Water.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Beaconview Road, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Beaconview Road, which will be closed from the junction of Bustleholme Lane (northern side) to the dividing line of property Nos.327 & 329. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Walsall Road, Charlemont Road and vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 26/11/2024 (9:30am - 3:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access to repair/replace a defective manhole frame and cover by Severn Trent Water.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Lombard Street & Lombard Street West, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure, One-Way Suspension & No Right Turn Ban) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Lombard Street, which will be closed from its junction with High Street for approximately 20 metres (23/11/2024 - 24/11/2024) and Lombard Street West, which will be closed at the junction of High Street for approximately 20 metres (30/11/2024 - 01/12/2024). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. The one-way system at Lombard Street will be suspended for the duration of the Lombard Street road closure to allow for access and egress of businesses on Lombard Street from Church Street. A no right turn ban will be in place at Lombard Street West for the duration of the closure at Lombard Street. A no right turn ban will be in place on High Street for the duration of the Lombard Street West closure. In addition, there will be two-way temporary traffic signals in operation on High Street, south of the junction with Lombard Street and north of the junction of Lombard Street for the duration of both closures.
A traffic diversion route will be signed for the Lombard Street closure via Victoria Street, Price Street, West Bromwich Ringway, Bull Street, Walsall
Street, Reform Street, Congregation Way, Cronehills Linkway & Bratt Street. A traffic diversion route will be signed for the Lombard Street West closure via High Street & Victoria Street. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 01/12//2024 effective from 23/11/2024
