Alfreds Way, Temporary Prohibition of Traffic
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE A13 GLA ROAD (ALFREDS WAY, LONDON BOROUGH OF NEWHAM) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.
2. The purpose of the Order is to enable resurfacing works to take place near A13 Alfreds Way.
3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from entering, exiting or proceeding on:
(1) Spur Road between its junctions with Jenkins Lane (at showcase roundabout) and the A13 unnamed off - slip road (connecting the westbound carriageway of Alfreds Way to the roundabout at the junctions with A1020 Royal Docks Road and A406 North Circular Road, known locally as Beckton Roundabout).
The Order also prohibits any person from:
(2) entering, exiting or proceeding on the eastern footway of Jenkins Lane between the northern-most tip of the inset bust stop south of Showcase Roundabout Road to a point 120 metres northwards.
The Order will be effective at certain times from 7:00 AM on 29th November 2024 until 7:00 PM on 28th February 2025 or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:
(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;
(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.
5. At such times as the prohibition is in force an alternative route will be indicated by traffic signs via Jenkins Lane, Spur Road, unnamed A13 on-slip road connecting Beckton Roundabout to the eastbound carriageway of Alfreds Way, Alfreds Way, unnamed A13 off-slip road connecting Alfred's Way to Movers Lane/River Road junction, unnamed A13 on-slip road connecting Movers Lane/River Road junction to the westbound carriageway of Alfred's Way to normal route of travel; (for pedestrians) stairway to Alfreds Way footway (southeast side), Spur Road (southern side) and Jenkins Lane footways south of Showcase Roundabout to normal route of travel.
