Luton - Multiple Traffic Notices
What is happening?

(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES)
ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The Order will come into operation on 6th January 2025 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.
The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Tavistock Crescent from its junction with Tavistock Street to its junction with Ashton Road. Diversion route via Cowper Street, London Road and Ashton Road. Anticipated dates and times of closure 6th January 2025 to 9th January 2025, 9am to 5pm.
Old Bedford Road from its junction with Stockingstone Road to its junction with Greenhill Avenue. Diversion route via Stockingstone Road, Stockingstone Road Roundabout, New Bedford Road, Kingsdown Avenue, Old Bedford Road. Alternatively via Old Bedford Road, Cromwell Hill, New Bedford Road, Kingsdown Avenue, Old Bedford Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 11th January 2025 to 12th January 2025, 9:30am to 3pm.
Baker Street from its junction with Ashton Road to its junction with Hoo Street. Diversion route via Tennyson Road, Harcourt Street, Ashton Road. Alternatively via Ashton Road, Arthur Street, Hoo Street. Anticipated dates and times of closures 13th January 2025 to 16th January 2025, 9am to 5pm.
May Street from its junction with Baker Street to its junction with New Town Street. Diversion route via Baker Street, Cambridge Street, Surrey Street, Albert Road, New Town Street. Alternatively via New Town Street, Strathmore Avenue, Baker Street. Anticipated dates and times of closures 20th January 2025 to 23rd January 2025, 9am to 5pm.
The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable Affinity Water to carry out essential maintenance works. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic where available will be marked by signs.
