Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
A2990 Thanet Way, Herne Bay, CT6 7QQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024
To allow traffic light repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A2990 Thanet Way, Herne Bay, from 9th December 2024, with estimated completion by 10th December 2024, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed Westbound only at the exit from the Greenhill roundabout, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2990 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way, Westbound Slip Onto Wraik Hill Roundabout, A290 Clapham Hill and A2990 Thanet Way.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Broomfield Road, Herne, CT6 7LY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024
To allow footway works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Broomfield Road, Herne, from 11th December 2024, with estimated completion by 17th December 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Hawe Farm Way to number 47, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Hawe Farm Way, Hunters Forstal Road, Gorse Lane, Broomfield Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Christmas Lights Switch On - High Street, Sturry, CT2 0AS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024
To allow the Christmas light switch on event to be held, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of High Street, Sturry, from 1st December 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 13:00 and 20:00, or until the event has finished.
The road will be closed between the junction with Church Lane travelling northwards to A28 Mill Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The one-way Order on High Street Sturry will be suspended from the junction with Church Lane travelling southwards to A28 Mill Road, to allow for diverted traffic to exit.
Herne Drive, Herne Bay, CT6 7QW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Herne Drive, Herne Bay, from 26th November 2024, with estimated completion by 2nd December 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Greenhill Road West, Greenhill Road East, Poplar Drive and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Margate Road, Herne, CT6 7EY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow street light works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Margate Road, Herne, from 25th November 2024, with estimated completion by 26th November 2024, between the hours of 21:00 and 04:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the Willow Farm Way Roundabout, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Margate Road, A299 Thanet Way, Mill Lane, Hunters Forstal Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
This closure is in conjunction with a lane closure on A299 Thanet Way Off Slip.
Matthews Road, Herne Bay, CT6 7QW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Matthews Road, Herne Bay, from 26th November 2024, with estimated completion by 2nd December 2024, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Herne Drive to outside number 2, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
These works are in conjunction with the closure of Herne Drive.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Rowland Drive, Greenhill Road, Herne Drive and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Middle Wall, Whitstable, CT5 1EU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Middle Wall, Whitstable, from 26th November 2024, with estimated completion by 29th November 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 66, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic wishing to travel Northbound is via Middle Wall, B2205 High Street, Terrys Lane and Middle Wall.
The alternative route for any through traffic wishing to travel Southbound is via Waterloo Road, Salt Marsh Lane, Cornwallis Circle, Shaftesbury Road, Nelson Road, B2205 Oxford Street and Middle Wall.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Mill Lane, Bridge, CT4 5LX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024
To allow service works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mill Lane, Bridge, from 9th December 2024, with estimated completion by 13th December 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Little Bridge Place, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Mill Lane, Brewery Lane, High Street, Western Avenue and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Northgate, Canterbury, CT1 2EX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Northgate, Canterbury, from 25th November 2024, with estimated completion by 29th November 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 79, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic Northeast bound is via Northgate, Broad Street, A28 Military Road, Tourtel Road, Northgate, New Ruttington Lane, Union Place, Union Street.
The alternative route for any through traffic Southwest bound is via Northgate, B2248 Kingsmead, St Stephens Road, The Causeway, Pound Lane, St Radigunds Street, Knott’s Lane, King Street, Borough, Northgate.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Otham Close, Canterbury, CT2 7TR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Otham Close, Canterbury, from 11th December 2024, with estimated completion by 13th December 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Poor Start Lane, Bridge. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow pole installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Poor Start Lane, Bridge, from 25th November 2024, with estimated completion by 26th November 2024, between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with A2, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic wishing to travel Southbound is via Poor Start Lane, Coldharbour Lane and A2 Dover Road.
The alternative route for any through traffic wishing to travel Northbound is via A2 Dover Road, A2 J A260/B2046 Leave SE, A260 Box Iron Road, Old Dover Road, A2 Dover Road, A2 From J A260 To J A2050 Patrixbourne NW, Bonny Bush Hill, Coldharbour Lane, A2 From J A2050 Patrixbourne to J A260/B2046 SE, A2 Dover Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Riverside Close, Bridge, CT4 5JZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow manhole frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Riverside Close, Bridge, from 19:00 hours on 26th November 2024, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 27th November 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 48A, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
St Stephens Road, Canterbury, CT2 7JE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024
To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St Stephens Road, Canterbury, from 02:00 hours on 1st December 2024, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 2nd December 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 20m either side of the level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via St Stephens Road, St Stephen’s Hill, Beaconsfield Road, Forty Acres Road, A290 Whitstable Road, St Dunstans Street, B2248 Station Road West and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Streetfield, Herne, CT6 7AL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow trenching works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Streetfield, Herne, from 25th November 2024, with estimated completion by 6th December 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Sundridge Close, Canterbury, CT2 7FF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024
To allow trenching works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Sundridge Close, Canterbury, from 11th December 2024, with estimated completion by 13th December 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Ulcombe Gardens, Canterbury, CT2 7TR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024
To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Ulcombe Gardens, Canterbury, from 11th December 2024, with estimated completion by 3rd January 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Windmill Road, Herne, CT6 7DL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow trenching works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Windmill Road, Herne, from 25th November 2024, with estimated completion by 13th December 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Mill Lane, Pigeon Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
