What is happening?

TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990

The Secretary of State gives notice of an Order made under Section 247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping up of Highway (North East) (No. 28) Order 2024” authorising the stopping up of up of a length of Down Hill Lane, including highway verge at land west of the A1290 and the A19, in the District of South Tyneside and the City of Sunderland. This is to enable development as permitted by South Tyneside Council, under reference ST/1172/21/FUL and Sunderland City Council, under reference 21/02807/HE4.

Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, from the Secretary of State, National Transport Casework Team, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle Business Park, Newcastle upon

Tyne NE4 7AR or nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk (quoting NATTRAN/NE/S249/5771). They may also be inspected during normal opening hours at South Tyneside Council, Quadrus Business Centre, Woodstock Way, Boldon, NE35 9PF.

Any person who wishes to challenge the validity of the decision to make the Order may apply to the High Court within 6 weeks from 19 November 2024.
