What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)
CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS IN OLD WARDEN AND UPPER CALDECOTE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the following lengths of roads in Old Warden and Upper Caldecote:-.
a) Hill Lane Crossroads, Old Warden entire length.
b) Kingshill, Old Warden section of the road leading up to the roundabout.
c) Hitchin Road, Upper Caldecote section of the road leading up to the roundabout.
d) Hill Lane, Upper Caldecote section of the road leading up to the roundabout.
This temporary closure is required to enable carriageway repair works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 18 to 22 November 2024 between the hours of 9am and 03:30pm. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative routes for this closure are via
a) Hitchin Road, Upper Caldecote; Vinegar Hill, Hatch; Brook End, Hatch; Hitchin Road, Sandy; Bedford Road, Sandy (A603), A1, Hill Lane, Biggleswade, Shortmead Street, Biggleswade; St Andrews Street, Biggleswade; Teal Road, Biggleswade; Hitchin Street, Biggleswade; Langford Road, Biggleswade; Southill Road, Biggleswade; Southill Road, Broom; B658
b) Warden Road, Ickwell; Ickwell Green, Ickwell; Northill Road, Ickwell; Ickwell Road, Northill; Thorncote Road, Northill; Thorncote Green, Hatch; Thorncote Road, Hatch; Hitchin Road, Sandy; Bedford Road, Sandy (A603); A1; Hill Lane, Upper Caldecote
The Order will come into operation on 18 November 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL PROPOSES TO INTRODUCE A 30MPH AND 40MPH SPEED LIMITS ON CAMBRIDGE ROAD, DUNTON
Reason for proposal: The relocation of the existing 30mph speed limit and introduction of a 40mph ‘buffer’ are being proposed as part of a package of highway improvements which have been stipulated as part of the planning consent given for a near-by residential development. The reduction in speed limit is intended to slow vehicles on the approach to the development in the interest of highway safety.
Effect of the Order:
To introduce a 30mph Speed Limit on the following length of road in Dunton:-
1. Cambridge Road, from a point approximately 25 metres northeast of its junction with Kings Pond Close and extending in a north easterly direction for approximately 109 metres.
To introduce a 40mph Speed Limit on the following length of road in Dunton:-
1. Cambridge Road, from a point approximately 134 metres north east of its junction with Kings Pond Close and extending in a north easterly direction for approximately 162 metres.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL – NOTICE OF MAKING TO INTRODUCE WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON STATION ROAD, OAK CRESCENT AND KING STREET, POTTON
On 1st November 2024 Central Bedfordshire Council made the below named Traffic Regulation Order which has the effect as follows:-
To introduce No Waiting at any time on the following lengths of road in Potton:-
1. Station Road, south side, from the junction with the western arm of Oak Crescent and extending in a south-easterly direction for approximately 45 metres, ending at the junction with the eastern arm of Oak Crescent.
2. Oak Crescent, western arm, east side, from the junction with Station Road and extending in south-westerly direction for approximately 5 metres.
3. Oak Crescent, eastern arm, west side, from the junction with Station Road and extending in south-easterly direction for approximately 5 metres.
4. King Street, west side, from a point 1.5 metres north of a point in line with the common property boundary between No.55 and No. 57 King Street and extending in a southerly direction for approximately 91 metres ending at a point 2 metres north of a point in line with the common property boundary between No. 39 and No. 41 King Street.
5. King Street, west side, from a point 2 metres north of the common property boundary between No.15 and No. 17 King Street and extending in a northerly direction for approximately 35 metres ending at a point 1.5 metres north of the northern flank wall belonging to No. 19 King Street.
6. King Street, west side, from a point approximately 15 metres north of the northern flank wall belonging to No. 9 King Street and extending in a northerly direction for approximately 5 metres.
7. King Street, west side, from a point in line with the southern flank wall of No. 3 King Street and extending in a northerly direction for approximately 11 metres ending at a point in line with the common property boundary between No.3 and No. 5 King Street.
8. King Street, east side, from a point 2 metres south of the northern flank wall belonging to No. 48 King Street (Red Cow Cottage) and extending in a northerly direction for approximately 11 metres ending at a point 6 metres north of the common property boundary between No.48 (Red Cow Cottage) and No. 50 King Street.
9. King Street, east side, from a point 2 metres north of the common property boundary between No. 54 and No. 56 King Street and extending in a northerly direction for approximately 18 metres ending at a point 2 metres north of the common property boundary between No. 60 and No. 62 King Street
To revoke No Waiting Monday to Saturday between 8:00am and 6:30pm and replace with No Waiting at any time on the following lengths of road in Potton:-
1. King Street, west side, from the junction with Market Square and extending in a northerly direction for approximately 91 metres ending at a point approximately in line with the southern flank wall belonging to No. 3 King Street.
2. King Street, east side, from the junction with Market Square and extending in a northerly direction for approximately 70 metres ending at the access to Tesco Express Carpark.
3. King Street, east side, from the junction with the access to Tesco Express Carpark and extending in a northerly direction for approximately 60 metres, ending at a point approximately 0.5 metres south of the northern flank wall belonging to No. 22 King Street.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL – NOTICE OF MAKING TO INTRODUCE PARKING FOR DISABLED BADGE HOLDERS ON THE CROFTS, STOTFOLD
On 1st November 2024 Central Bedfordshire Council made the below named Traffic Regulation Order which has the effect as follows:-
To introduce Parking for Disabled badge holders only on the following lengths of road in Stotfold:-
1. The Crofts, southeast side, from a point approximately in line with the north-western corner of the property boundary belonging to No. 32 Church Road and extending in a south-westerly direction, covering an area approximately 6 metres in length and 2.5 metres in width.

On 1st November 2024 Central Bedfordshire Council made the below named Traffic Regulation Order which has the effect as follows:-
To introduce No Stopping on School Entrance Markings from Monday to Friday between 8.00am and 4.30pm on the following length of road in Everton:-
1. Potton Road, northeast side, from approximately 21 metres southeast of the shared property boundary of Nos.29 and 31 Potton Road and extending in a northerly direction for approximately 25.5 metres.
To introduce No Stopping on School Entrance Markings from Monday to Friday between 8.00am and 4.30pm on the following length of road in Everton:-
1. Potton Road, northeast side, from a point in line with the shared property boundary between No.35 Potton Road and Everton Lower School and extending in a northwesterly direction for approximately 45 metres.
