Wiltshire, Temporary Footpath Closures & Speed Limit Adjustments
What is happening?
SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all users: Footpath 89, Purton; from its junction with Restrop Road to its junction with Footpath 90, Purton to enable Planning permission. Alternative route via public highways. The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. This Order which was due to expire on 16 November 2024 will now continue in force until 16 May 2025 or until completion of the works, whichever is earliest. The Order will have a maximum duration of 06 months. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all users: Footpath 13 (Part), Worton; from its junction with Bridewell 11, Worton for a distance of approximately 250m in an easterly direction to enable repair of a collapsed section of stone wall. Alternative route via existing public highways and rights of way. The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. This closure which follows an emergency notice will come into operation on 22 November 2024 and the closure will be required until 22 May 2025. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works. The Order will have a maximum duration of 06 months. THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (A342 DEVIZES ROAD AND A3102, BROADHAM AND CALNE WITHOUT) (50MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2024
Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council proposes to make the above Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be as follows: Order 1 – To Amend the County of Wiltshire (A342 and B3101, Devizes, Rowde, Bromham and Calne Without) (50mph Speed Limit) Order 2012 by revocation of the following description: A342 Devizes Road, Bromham and Calne Without – from a point 60 metres south of its junction with Back Lane, Calne Without to a point 91 metres south of its junction with the A3102, Bromham and to introduce a 40mph speed limit on the following lengths of road:
- A342 Devizes Road – from a point 86 metres south of its junction with A3102 (to Calne), Bromham to a point 60 metres south of its junction with Back Lane, Calne Without;
- A3102, Bromham – from its junction with A342 Devizes Road for a distance of 250 metres in a north easterly direction.
Order 2 – To introduce a 50mph speed limit on the following lengths of road:
- A342 Devizes Road – from a point 290 metres south east of its junction with Hawkswood to a point 86 metres south of its junction with A3102 (to Calne);
- A3102 – from a point 20 metres north east of its junction with A342 Devizes Road, Bromham to a point 285 metres north east of its junction with Stockley Road (Broads Green), Calne Without.
Copies of the draft Orders, plan and Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the Orders may be inspected at the offices of Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge during normal office hours or at the Library, Calne between the hours of 10am-7pm Monday, 9.30am-5pm Tuesday and Thursday, 9.30am-7pm Friday and 9.30am-4pm Saturday until 9 December 2024. Documents can also be viewed online at https://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/troconsultations.
