London Road - Temporary Road Closure

What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (London Road) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.127) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport has given a direction under section 15(3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 for the above Order to be continuing in force for a further two months.
The Order came into operation from 1st October 2024 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
LONDON ROAD

From its junction with St Georges Road to its junction with Northern Road (west).
From its junction with St Georges Road to its junction with London Road (35 metres north).
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate works to create an opening for access and to form a turnaround lane outside Highclere Medical Centre.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 1st October 2024 to 30th November 2024 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
This Order is now extended for a further period of two months from 1st December 2024 to 31st January 2025, or completion of works, whichever is sooner.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from London Road, Chalkridge Road, Widley Road, St Johns Road, St Georges Road and London Road, Spur Road, Spur Road Roundabout, Northern Road and Northern Road, Spur Road Roundabout, Spur Road, London Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
