West Sussex County Council

(CHIDHAM & HAMBROOK: PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO. 224)

(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that the Order made by WSCC under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and which came into force on 9 May 2024, with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport, will now continue in force until 9 May 2025 or until the works are completed.

The Order is necessary to protect public safety due to coastal erosion. The landowner has applied for consent to allow for some temporary works to be carried out that will make the footpath safe to reopen.

The effect of the Order remains unchanged and is to prohibit any person from proceeding along a length of Public Footpath No. 224 from its junction with Public Footpath No. 227 (479585, 103318), southwards to its westerly turning (479377, 102672), a distance of approximately 816 M. Unfortunately there are no alternative routes available using the Public Rights of Way network.

Any queries about the effect of the Order on persons using the Public Bridleway should be directed to Rights of Way Team, WSCC, telephone number 01243 777620.

Dated 7 November 2024

Director of Law & Assurance County Hall, Chichester.
