What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 07 November 2024 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8) & (9). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (10), (11), (12), (13), (14) & (15).

(1) BOOTHAM LEVEL CROSSING. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding through the Bootham Level Crossing on Wigginton Road, York (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0030hrs on Sunday, 10 November 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Sunday, 10 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Wigginton Road, A1237, Haxby Road, Link Road.

(2) ROSE STREET. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Rose Street, York between its junctions with Hambleton Terrace and Wigginton Terrace (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Monday, 11 November 2024 and ending at 1630hrs on Tuesday, 12 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0930hrs and 1630hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Newby Terrace, Vyner Street, Haxby Road, Hambleton Terrace.

(3) CARR LANE. ROSEDALE AVENUE & DODGSON TERRACE. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Carr Lane, Rosedale Avenue & Dodgson Terrace, York (i) on Carr Lane between its junctions with Woodlea Bank and York Road and (ii) on Dodgson Terrace between its junctions with Carr Lane and Barlow Street and (iii) on Rosedale Avenue between its junctions with Carr Lane and Beech Grove (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Monday, 11 November 2024 and ending at 1600hrs on Friday, 22 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0900hrs and 1600hrs each weekday of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Acomb Road, Poppleton Road.

(4) GALE LANE. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Gale Lane, York between locations 58 metres and 128 metres south-east of its junction with Lowfields Drive (closed road) during the period when sewer works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Monday, 11 November 2024 and ending at 2359hrs on Monday, 11 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Front Street, York Road, Acomb Road, Holgate Road, Dalton Terrace, Tadcaster Road, St Helens Road, Thanet Road.

(5) MONKS CROSS DRIVE. YORK

This Order prohibits pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footway on the eastern side of Monks Cross Drive, York between locations 10 and 20 metres north of the roundabout controlled junction with Jockey Lane (closed footway) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2200hrs on Monday, 11 November 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Tuesday, 12 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the works period via Monks Cross Drive.

(6) HALLFIELD ROAD. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Hallfield Road, York between its junctions with Faber Street and Richmond Street (closed road) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 11 November 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Monday, 18 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route For diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Little Hallfield Road, Fifth Avenue, Glen Road, Layerthorpe.

(7) QUEEN STREET & STATION ROAD (CONTINUATION). YORK

This Order continues in force The York (Queen Street & Station Road) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2024 (original Order). The effect of which is to continue the prohibition on pedestrians and vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of roads on Queen Street & Station Road, York (i) on Queen Street between the projected south-eastern boundary of property No. 11 and its junction with Station Road and (ii) on Station Road between its junction with Queen Street and a location 17 metres north-east of said junction(closed roads) during the period commencing at 1701 hours on Monday, 11 November 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Wednesday, 22 October 2025 (works period) or on a date when York Station Gateway works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via land adjacent to Queen Street and Station Road.

(8) VYNER STREET. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Vyner Street, York between its junctions with Haxby Road and Newby Terrace (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Wednesday, 13 November 2024 and ending at 1630hrs on Thursday, 14 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is

the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Haxby Road, Rose Street, Newby Terrace.

(9) YORK CHRISTMAS MARKET. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road listed in the schedule below (restricted roads) during the period when York Christmas Market event is being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1030hrs on Thursday, 14 November 2024 and ending at 1900hrs on Sunday, 22 December 2024 (event period) or at a time when the event has been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said event can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the restriction will only be put into place between 1030hrs and 1900hrs during the event period. Additionally, all coach parking spaces situated in St Georges Field Car Park will be subject to suspension for weekend days between Saturday, 16 November 2024 and Sunday, 22 December 2024 and all 'on-streef parking places situated around St Sampson's Square will be subject to suspension between 0800hrs and 1030hrs daily for the duration of the event (suspension areas).

(10) HAXBY ROAD. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Haxby Road, York between its junction with Station Avenue and a location 45 metres north of said junction (closed road) during the period when sewer works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2130hrs on Monday, 18 November 2024 and ending at 0200hrs on Tuesday, 19 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Link Road, Huntington Road, A1237.

(11) LADY ROAD. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Lady Road, York between its junction with Cromer Street and a location 58 metres south-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0730hrs on Monday, 18 November 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Tuesday, 19 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0730hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(12) BACK LANE FROM 68 TO 86 FOURTH AVENUE. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Back Lane From 68 To 86 Fourth Avenue, York between its junction with Eight Avenue and a location 34 metres west of said junction (closed road) during the period when gas mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Monday, 18 November 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Monday, 02 December 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Eighth Avenue, Fourth Avenue, Seventh Avenue.

(13) LINDEN CLOSE. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Linden Close, York between its junctions with Strensall Road and Kingsclere (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 19 November 2024 and ending at 1600hrs on Tuesday, 19 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Strensall Road, Kingsclere.

(14) ST MARKS GROVE. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on St Marks Grove, York between the projected north-western boundary of property No. 3 and the projected north-eastern boundary of property No. 51 (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0730hrs on Tuesday, 19 November 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Tuesday, 19 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(15) HUDSON CRESCENT. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Hudson Crescent, York between both its junctions with Lister Way (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0730hrs on Wednesday, 20 November 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 22 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0730hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
