What is happening?

THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL

Scotts Farm Road (D2374) West Ewell Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Scotts Farm Road (D2374) West Ewell which extends from its junction with Ruxley Lane to a point 5m north of its junction with Alway Avenue. Alternative Route - Ruxley Lane, Chesterfield Road, Poole Road and Scotts Farm Road. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate bridge investigation works and/ or any other associated bridge works which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 26 November 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Due to the nature of the works, access for emergency services and residents will not be maintained. The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises, including emergency service vehicle access, within the length of roads specified or accessible only therefrom may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle's owner.
