What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14 THE COUNTY OF DEVON (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION) (A379 - FOOTPATH RUNNING ALONG A379 IN MATFORD, EXETER, ALPHINGTON / MATFORD) ORDER 2024

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS

NOTICE is hereby given that Devon County Council intends to make the above titled order. From 25/11/24 for a maximum of 18 months. Anticipated Finish 1/12/24. No person shall proceed on the sections of Affected Paths except for access to land or premises on or adjacent to those lengths of paths.

Roads affected: A379 - FOOTPATH RUNNING ALONG A379 IN MATFORD, EXETER, ALPHINGTON / MATFORD, TROOD LANE - ELLACOTT ROAD The alternative, signed, route for vehicles will be via -SOUTHERN FOOTPATH TO BE DIVERTED UP THE EASTERN FOOTPATH ON TROOD LANE & THEN CONTINUE UP ELLACOTT ROAD. PESTRIANS ENCOURAGED TO USE LEFT HAND FOOTPATH TO AVOID INTERFACE WITH SITE TRAFFIC TURNING OFF ELLACOT ROAD INTO LIVE CONSTRUCTION SITE.

This temporary restriction is considered necessary to enable: HE WORKS WILL INVOLVE THE REMOVAL OF EXISTING VEHICLE RESTRAINT SYSTEMS (VRS) ACCROSS THE FOUR EXETER CYCLE BRIDGE PIERS. THE BRIDGE WILL BE CLOSE BECAUSE IT WILL AFFECT THE SAFETY OF THE WORKS TAKING PLACE BELOW IT. THIS APPLICATION IS IN CONNECTION TO DG004WSPRM70099584-MJR-1.
