What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 (AS AMENDED) SECTION 14(2)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND ONE-WAY TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that Birmingham City Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the length of road listed in the schedule below;
• BIRCHALL STREET between its junction with Moseley Street to its junction with Cheapside. 
• CHEAPSIDE between its junction with Rea Street to its junction with Birchall Street. 

As part of this road closure, it will be necessary to introduce a Temporary One-Way Traffic Order along Birchall Street and Cheapside beginning at its junction with Bradford Street, travelling towards Lombard Street.

The temporary prohibition of traffic and temporary one-way order is required to facilitate utility works on the Highway.

These prohibitions shall apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

The Order will come into operation on 8th of November 2024 and will remain in force for a period of 9 MONTHS or until the works are completed whichever is the earlier.
