Murton Parish Bridleway Number 30 - Temporary Bridleway and Footpath Closure

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham
(Bridleway Number 30, and segregated footpath, Murton)
(Temporary Bridleway and Footpath Closure) Order 2023

The above-named Order made by the Council on 3/11/2023, under section 14 (1)f of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and which became operational on 15/11/2023 and was subsequently extended to 15/11/2024, has been continued in force from 15/11/2024, as approved by the Secretary of State for Transport, to 31/5/2025 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier. The effect of the Order is to temporarily close to all traffic a 70 metre length of Bridleway Number 30, Murton Parish that extends westward from its junction with the B1285. And to pedestrian traffic, a 70 metre length of segregated footpath between the A182/A19 southbound on-slip and Pemberton View. An alternative route will be available to pedestrian traffic from: A. South eastern side of the bridleway closure, from the B1285 / A182 Roundabout, Heading westerly on Spring Road, then north on Bridleway Number 30, onto Footpath Number 18 and continuing north past the Glebe Centre to the B1285, then easterly to the northern side of the closure, and vice versa. B. South eastern side of the closure, north via footway of the B1432 then easterly via the former railway path to Hawthorn Public Footpath Number 9, then south on to the A182 at the north western side of the closure, and vice versa.
