What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(BRIDGE ROAD, LANCASTER, LANCASTER CITY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this Order.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over that length of Bridge Road, Lancaster from for a distance of approximately 20 metres either side of the rail bridge.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0900 hours until 1500 hours on Tuesday 12th November 2024 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:- Bridge Road – A588 Ashton Road – A6 Greaves Road – Bridge Road and vice versa.

The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow works to remove dangerous sycamore tree falling within distance of the railway be carried out. Authority given for this Order to be made:
