Bryn Road South/Alexandra Road Ashton In Makerfield – Prohibition of Waiting/Loading
Notice of Making
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, has made the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.590) Order 2024 which will come into operation on 23/11/2024.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time on:
• Alexandra Road Ashton – both sides from its junction with Bryn Road South to a point 15 metres west of its junction with Bryn Road South
• Bryn Road South, Ashton – west side from a point 15 metres north of its junction with Alexandra Road to a point 15 metres south of its junction with Alexandra Road
The effect of the Order will be to introduce no loading at any time on:
• Bryn Road South, Ashton – west side from a point 15 metres north of its junction with Alexandra Road to a point 15 metres south of its junction with Alexandra Road
• Alexandra Road Ashton – both sides from its junction with Bryn Road South to a point 15 metres west of its junction with Bryn Road South

Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained therein on the ground:
(a) that it is not within the powers of Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984; or the Traffic Management Act 2004, or
(b) that any requirement of the said Section 1, or of Part III of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or of any regulations made under the said Part III of Schedule 9 or of any requirement of the 2004 Act, has not been complied with, may within six weeks of 24/10/2024 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
Bolton Road Ashton – Proposed Toucan Crossing
Notice of Intent
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 23(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, has resolved to introduce a Toucan crossing on the following street:
• Bolton Road Ashton at a point 16 metres southwest of its junction with Orchard Street Ashton
A copy of the map showing the respective position of the proposed Toucan crossing will be available to view at https://www.wigan.gov.uk/Resident/Parking-Roads-Travel/Roads/Traffic-regs-orders.aspx or will be available upon request by emailing d.rumsey@wigan.gov.uk.
Any objections to the proposal must be made in writing and specify the grounds thereof and must be made to the Assistant Director – Legal, Governance and Elections, Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan WN1 1YN or by emailing the above email address quoting reference RD/LS/DC/C108.1109 not later than 03/12/2024.

Notice of Proposals
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.593) Order 2024 The effect of the Order will be to revoke prohibited waiting at any time on:
• Bolton Road Ashton – north west side from a point 15 metres north east of its junction with George Street to a point 38 metres south west of its junction with Bryn Road South.
The effect of the Order will be to revoke restricted loading on any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday 7.30am-9.30am and 4.00pm-6.30pm on the following roads:
• Bolton Road Ashton – north west side from a point 53 metres north east of its junction with Bryn Road South to a point 38 metres south west of its junction with Bryn Road South.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce prohibited waiting at any time on:
• Bolton Road Ashton – northwest side from a point 15 metres northeast of its junction with George Street to a point 26 metres southwest of its junction with Bryn Road South.
• Bolton Road Ashton – northwest side from a point 76 metres southwest of its junction with Bryn Road South to a point 135 metres south west of its junction with Bryn Road South.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce limited waiting on the following roads at the following times and days:

The effect of the Order will be to introduce restricted loading on any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday 7.30am-9.30am and 4.00pm-6.30pm on the following roads:
• Bolton Road Ashton – north west side from a point 53 metres northeast of its junction with Bryn Road South to a point 26 metres southwest of its junction with Bryn Road South.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce a loading bay on any day 06.30-07:30am and 3:00-5:00pm on the following roads:
• Bolton Road Ashton – northwest side from a point 34 metres southwest of its junction with Bryn Road South to a point 44 metres southwest of its junction with Bryn Road South.
There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to wait for the purpose of building and similar operations, removing obstructions to traffic, road works and works by statutory undertakers; for local authority, Water Companies if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances.
The Order also provides that if any vehicle is left in any road or length of road affected by the Order in contravention of any provision of the Order a penalty charge (in the amount set by the Council) shall be payable and/or the vehicle may be removed.
A copy of the proposed Order, the Order to be amended, and of the relevant map and of a statement of the reasons for proposing to make the Order may be requested by emailing d.rumsey@wigan.gov.uk.

(Smithy Brook Road Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Smithy Brook Road Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Smithy Brook Road Wigan during the period of two days commencing on 26/11/2024.
The alternative route for traffic is: Little Lane, Billinge Road, Victoria Street and Warrington Road. The Order is necessary to allow a frame and cover replacement.
(Poolstock Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Poolstock Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Poolstock Wigan during the period of two days commencing on 11/01/2025.
The alternative route for traffic is: Westwood Way and Warrington Road.
The Order is necessary to allow a new water connection.
