West Bromwich, Smethwick & Tipton - Temporary Road, Footway & Cycle Lane Closures
What is happening?
SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Oldbury Road, West Bromwich) and (West Bromwich Street, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closures) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Oldbury Road from the junction of the Izons Industrial Estate (southern side) to the junction with West Bromwich Street, and West Bromwich Street from the junction of Oldbury Road to the northern entrance for the Hadley Group (northern side). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Oldbury Road, Whitehall Road, Great Bridge, Market Place, Horseley Heath, Dudley Port, Sedgley Road East, Tipton Road, Dudley Road East, Dudley Road, Oldbury Ringway, Fountain Lane and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 14/11/2024 effective from 13/11/2024 (10pm-5am). Purpose – to facilitate access for a railway bridge inspection by Network Rail Ltd.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Edward Street, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Edward Street, which will be closed from the junction of Lombard Street West (south-east side) to the dividing line of the Community Team Base and Guru Nanak Gurdwara buildings. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Victoria Street, Price Street, St Michaels Street, High Street and Lombard Street West. The existing one-way operation of Edward Street from the junction of Victoria Street to the dividing line of the Community Team Base and Guru Nanak Gurdwara buildings will be suspended and two-way operation introduced for the duration of the Edward Street closures. All disabled and pay/display parking bays in Edward Street between the junction of Lombard Street West (south-eastern side) to the dividing line of the Community Team Base and Guru Nanak Gurdwara buildings will be suspended for the duration of the Edward Street closures. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 17/11/2024 effective from 09/011/2024 (works are programmed for two weekends within this period and will be from 6am on the 1st day – 7pm on the 2nd day). Purpose – to facilitate access to place a mobile crane on the highway to assist with the removal of a tower crane within the Vinci Construction Site by Falcon Tower Crane Services.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Houghton Street, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Houghton Street from the junction of Spon Lane South to the junction of Hall Street South. Access to affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Spon Lane South, Kenrick Way (eastbound), Telford Way Roundabout, Kenrick Way (westbound) and Hall Street South. A further diversion route will be signed via Hall Street South, Kenrick Way and Spon Lane. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 06/12/2024 effective from 11/11/2024 (7pm-6am each evening/morning). The road closures will be in operation on the following dates: 11th-13th, 25th & 29th November and 2nd - 6th December 2024. Purpose – to facilitate access to complete concrete repairs to the underside of the M5 carriageway by National Highways.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Awefields Crescent, Smethwick) (Temporary Footway Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along Awefields Crescent (link footpath), which will be closed from the back of footway opposite property No.10 to the back of footway opposite property Nos.17-18. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A pedestrian diversion route will be signed via Awefields Crescent. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 13/12/2024 effective from 11/11/2024 (8am-6pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for maintenance works by Cadent Gas Ltd. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Dudley Port, Tipton) (Temporary Footway and Cycle Lane Closures) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along Dudley Port from the junction of Station Drive (south-west side) for 50 metres in a south-westerly direction, and Dudley Port from the gable end of property No.9 for 50 metres in a south-westerly direction and vice-versa for both closures. The closures will be in operation consecutively within the dates advised. The order also intends to temporarily prohibit cyclists from proceeding along Dudley Port via the cycle lane in a north-easterly direction from a distance of 50 metres in advance of the junction at Station Drive (south-west side) and Dudley Port via the cycle lane in a south-westerly direction from the gable end of property No.9 for 50 metres. The closures will be in operation consecutively within the dates advised. Pedestrian and cycle diversion routes will be signed via the two controlled pedestrian crossings located at the junctions of St Pauls Drive and outside No.294 Dudley Port. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 06/12/2024 effective from 11/11/2024 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access for brickwork repairs and removal of vegetation by Network Rail Limited.
