(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that West Northamptonshire Council have made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along that length of Public Footpath AY5 in Sulgrave as specified below. Private access to land or premises adjacent to the said length of footpath are unaffected.
RIGHT OF WAY TO WHICH RESTRICTION APPLIES: The length of Public Footpath AY5 to be closed commences off Little Street, Sulgrave at point A on the Order Map at National Grid Reference (‘NGR’) SP5610 4564. The route then proceeds generally north-east for 969 metres to terminate at point B at NGR SP 5695 4609 at the junction with Bridleway AY4 and Footpath AY14. The route to be closed is shown on the order map by a solid black line between points A-B.
REASONS FOR RESTRICTION: The restriction is required in the interest of health and safety as a bridge has been washed away and broken up in the flood waters. There is no safe route across the stream so a closure is required whilst the issue is resolved.
PERIOD OF CLOSURE: The Order will come into effect on 5th November 2024 and will continue in force for a period of six months. An application may be made for the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport for this Order to be extended if this proves necessary. However, the restriction specified will have effect only at such times and to such extent as is indicated by the display of notices.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: The alternative route commences off Little Street at point A on the Order Map at NGR SP5610 4564. The route proceeds generally north along the verges of Little Street and Weston Road for 123 metres to point C at NGR SP5611 4574 at the start of bridleway AY4. The route then proceeds generally north-east along bridleway AY4 for 934 metres to terminate at the junction with footpaths AY14 and AY5 at point B on the map at NGR SP5695 4609. The alternative route is shown by a broken black line between points A-C-B.
