TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2024
HIGH STREET, BEDFORD 2024 – 118
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of High Street, Bedford.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate the Installation/removal of Christmas decorations and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 22:00 to 05:00 hours from
11th November 2024 to 12th November 2024 install 22:00 to 05:00 hours from 7th January 2025 to 8th January 2025 remove
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via St Peters Street, St Cuthberts Street, Castle Road, Newnham Road, The Embankment The reverse route applies
The proposed Order will come into operation on 11th November 2024, for a period of 12 months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14(1)
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2024
ADELAIDE SQUARE, BEDFORD 24 – 073
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along Adelaide Square Bedford from the junction of Bromham Road for approx 100m.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate a crane on site to remove units from the roof and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 19:00 - 05:00 hours
30th November 2024 1 night only should works be not undertaken on this date then works will be carried out 19:00 - 05:00 14th December - 15th December 2024
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via St Loyes Street, Dame Alice Street, Harpur Street, The Broadway, Tavistock Street, The Crescent, Bromham Road.
The reverse route applies.
The proposed Order will come into operation on 30th November 2024 for a period of 12 months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, from proceeding along High Street, Pavenham outside Moor Farm.
This temporary road closure is required to install an air valve and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 18:00 hours 24th November 2024
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via High Street, Pavenham Road, Felmersham Road, Carlton Road, Grange Road, Church Lane.
The reverse route applies.
The proposed Order will come into operation on 24th November 2024, for a period of 12 months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier. BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE
NEW PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN BROMHAM ROAD, BEDFORD
Reason for Proposal:
Bedford Borough Council has received a request from Ward Councillors for an extension to existing parking restrictions at the Bromham Road junction with Cutcliffe Grove, Bedford. This is in response to concerns raised over inconsiderate parking at this location which affects access to and egress from driveways, visibility and safety, so these restrictions are intended to remedy that.
Effect of the Proposal:
1. To extend existing ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction
(double yellow lines) on the following length of road:-
A | Bromham Road, Bedford |
(i) | On its southern kerb, from a point approx. 27 metres east of the projected north-eastern side of Cutcliffe Grove (the end of the existing ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction) extending for a distance of approx. 67.5 metres in an easterly direction (to the end of the existing ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction at Hurst Grove). |

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO FORMALISE
AN EXISTING DISABLED PERSONS PARKING BAY IN
FENLAKE ROAD, BEDFORD
Reason for Proposal:
Bedford Borough Council has received a request to formalise an existing disabled persons parking bay in Fenlake Road, Bedford.
The formalisation will help discourage abuse of the bay by enabling strict enforcement of its parking restrictions. There will be no time limit for the disabled parking bay.
Effect of the Order:
1. To formalise an existing disabled persons parking bay at the following location:
A | Fenlake Road, Bedford |
(i) | On its north-western kerb, extending from the common boundary between numbers 72 and 74 for a distance of approx. 5.4 metres in a South-Westerly direction. |

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE A
5 TONNE WAITING RESTRICTION ON BRUNEL ROAD, BEDFORD
Reason for Proposal:
Bedford Borough Council have received complaints about HGVs being left parked for long periods in Brunel Road, causing difficulties for other vehicles requiring access to the commercial and industrial premises in Brunel Road.
Therefore, this proposed waiting restriction is deemed necessary to remedy this.
Effect of the Order:
1. To introduce a 5 tonne waiting restriction between the hours of 6:00am and 4:00pm Monday - Friday, on the following length of road:
A | Brunel Road, Bedford |
(i) | On its northern kerb, from a point approx. 33 metres west of its junction with Barker’s Lane extending for a distance of approx. 202.5 metres in a westerly direction to the start of the existing ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction. |
(ii) | On its southern kerb, extending from its junction with Barker’s Lane for a distance of approx. 252 metres in a westerly direction to the start of the exiting ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction. |
(iii) | On its western kerb, extending from the southern side of its northern leg for a distance of approx. 52 metres in a southerly direction to the start of the exiting ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction. |
(iv) | On its eastern kerb, extending from the southern side of its northern leg for a distance of approx. 55 metres in a southerly direction to the start of the exiting ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction. |

PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2024
On 23 October 2024 Bedford Borough Council Confirmed the above Order as an unopposed Order under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert:-
i. That part of Public Footpath numbered 30 in the Parish of Dean & Shelton in the environs of “Wynstead Barn”, Shelton Road, Upper Dean commencing from a point where it has a junction with Footpaths D9 and D13 Dean & Shelton at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 0437/6793 shown as Point A on the attached map then running in a generally south-east direction for approximately 100 metres to a point where it has a junction with unaffected Footpath D20 Dean & Shelton at OSGR TL 0445/6788 shown as Point B on the Order Map to a route commencing from a point where it has a junction with that part of the unaffected Footpath D9, Dean & Shelton approximately 57 metres north-east from the residential dwelling known as “Wynstead Barn” Dean & Shelton at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 0440/6798 shown as Point C on the Order map then running in a generally south-east direction for approximately 91 metres to a point where it connects with the unaffected part of Footpath 30 at OSGR TL 0448/6795 shown as Point D on the Order Map.
ii. That length of Public Footpath numbered D13 in the Parish of Dean & Shelton in the environs of “Wynstead Barn”, Shelton Road, Upper Dean commencing from a point where it has a junction with the unaffected Footpath D20 Dean & Shelton at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 0441/6782 shown as Point E on the Order Map and running in a generally north north-west direction for approximately 108 metres to a point where it connects with Footpath 30, which is also subject to this Order, at OSGR TL 0438/6792 shown as Point F on the Order Map to a route commencing from a point where it has a junction with that part of the unaffected Footpath D20, Dean & Shelton approximately 108 metres south-east from the residential dwelling known as “Wynstead Barn” at (OSGR) TL 0441/6782 shown as Point E on the Order Map then running in a generally north-west direction for approximately 89 metres to a point where it connects to the unaffected Footpath D9, Dean & Shelton at (OSGR) TL 0433/6786 shown as Point G on the Order Map.

The Order comes into force on 20 November 2024, but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within six weeks from 31 October 2024 make an application to the High Court.
