What is happening?
GEDLING BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Gedling Borough Council (Civil Enforcement Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that Gedling Borough Council propose to make the above named Order under Sections 32, 35 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended and under the Traffic Management Act 2004 as amended and all other enabling powers.
The proposed Order relates to off-street parking places provided by the Council as outlined below and is intended to come into force in January 2025.
The effect of the proposed Order will be to:
1) To Increase the parking charges in the Councils, Pay and Display Car parks, as per the attached schedule.
2) Introduce the option to pay for parking or obtain free tickets by electronic means.
3) Introduce Charging for parking to the Councils Gedling country Park Car parks.
Use of the Parking Places covered by the proposed Order will be restricted to vehicles that can be parked within the marked bays: motor vehicles including cars, light vans, motorcycles, Invalid Carriages, Disabled Persons Vehicles, parked in such positions, on such days, during such hours and for such periods as are advertised at each site and as outlined below. If a vehicle is parked in a parking place without complying with the requirements of the Order, a contravention shall have occurred and a Penalty Charge shall be payable.
The level of Penalty Charges are:
£70 (£35 where paid within 14 days; £105 if paid after service of a charge certificate) for higher level contraventions. These are contraventions relating to parking in loading areas, designated disabled person’s bays, a restricted area, a permit bay or a bay not designated for that class of vehicle; and for using a vehicle in connection with the sale of goods and services, or causing an obstruction. £50 (£25 where paid within 14 days; £75 if paid after service of charge certificate) for lower level contraventions. These are; parking longer than the maximum period allowed, parking beyond the bay markings, parking during a period of no return, parking when the Parking Place is closed, parking with out displaying a valid permit or Pay and Display ticket, parking for a purpose other than that permitted, parking with the engine running where prohibited.
The proposed order will revoke the following existing Order:
The Gedling Borough Council (Civil Enforcement Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2020.
A copy of the proposed Order, plans and statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order may be inspected at the offices of Gedling Borough Council between the hours of 08.45 and 16.45 Mondays to Fridays inclusive.
Any objections to the proposed Order stating the grounds on which they are made, should be made in writing to reach the undersigned at the address below by no later than 30th November 2024.
