What is happening?

BIRMINGHAM CITY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 (AS AMENDED) SECTION 14(2) (FRANKFURT CHRISTMAS MARKET, LADYWOOD) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that Birmingham City Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle to proceed along

High Street (Carrs Lane to New Street)
New Street (whole length)
Temple Street (whole length)
Bennetts Hill (New Street to Waterloo Street)
Colmore Row (Bennetts Hill to Waterloo Street)
Waterloo Street (Colmore Row to Bennetts Hill)
Victoria Square (whole area)
Lower Temple Street (whole length)
Ethel Street (whole length)
Hill Street (Swallow Street to Victoria Square)
Chamberlain Square (whole area)
Cannon Street (Fore Street to New Street)
Temple Passage (whole length)
Union Street (Union Passage to High Street)

The temporary prohibition of through traffic is required to facilitate the deployment of infrastructure to ensure pedestrian safety whilst a street market takes place and to facilitate the construction and removal of market infrastructure An alternative route for vehicles affected by this Order will be signed on site.

Access to frontages will be maintained as necessary.

These prohibitions shall apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

The Order will come into operation on Friday 1st November 2024 and will remain in force for a period of eight weeks or until the works are completed whichever is the earlier.
