(A71, Galston to Newmilns) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024
On 29 October 2024 the Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on it under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers, made the above-named Order, to facilitate carriageway resurfacing and the installation of anti-skid surface treatment.
Temporary Road Closure – A71 between Galston and Newmilns gateways (1568m). The Order commences on 09 November 2024 and has a maximum duration of 18 months or until the works are completed, whichever is earlier. The works are expected to commence from 09 November 2024 at 08:00 until 18 November 2024 at 06:00
The road is expected to be closed between Saturday 08:00 and Monday 06:00 each weekend with the road being open out-with these times.
The days and times of the works may be dependent upon the weather conditions but the Order will be implemented only when the appropriate signs are displayed.
Emergency Services access will not be affected and access for residents, deliveries and pedestrians’ out-with the working zone will be maintained whenever possible and safe to do so.
An alternative route will be signed via A71 > A719 > A77 > Glasgow Southern Orbital > Queensway > Strathaven Road > Glasgow Road> Townhead Street > A71 and Vice Versa
