(Various Roads, Lawrence Hill, Redfield, St. George, And St. Philips, Bristol) (Temporary Prohibition Of Use By Vehicles) (Temporary Suspension Of One Way Traffic) (Temporary Suspension Of Prohibition Of Driving) Order 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order the effect of which will be:
1. to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice; and
2. to suspend, temporarily, when appropriate signs are covered :- 

(a) the prohibition of driving in Victoria Avenue between Avonvale Road and Leonard Road; and 

(b) the one way traffic working in the lengths of roads specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice – so as to allow access and egress for vehicles and to give effect to the alternative routes as a consequence of item 1. above.

The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the roads and will be operative from 13th November 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the restrictions may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only as necessitated by the works (which will occur in five phases that are anticipated to take place between the dates specified in Schedule 3 to this Notice).

SCHEDULE 1 – Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles

Phase 1 1. Avonvale Road – from Beam Street to Mildred Street 
2. Barnes Street – from Church Road southwards for 16 metres 

3. Marsh Lane – from Glendare Street north westwards for 12 metres 

4. Victoria Avenue – (a) from Avonvale Road westwards for 45 metres 
(b) from Baden Road eastwards for 14 metres

Phase 2 5. Kingsmarsh Way – from a point 96 metres south west, then west of Lawrence Hill generally south westwards for 17 metres 

6. Lincoln Street – from a point 195 metres south west, then south east, then south west of Ducie Road south westwards for 18 metres Phase 3

7. Cobden Street – from Morley Street southwards for 10 metres Phase 4

8. Barton Hill Road – from its southernmost junction with Ducie Road to Morley Street

9. Ducie Road – (a) from Barton Hill Road northwards for 38 metres (the western side of the triangular island) – (b) from Access off Ducie Road north westwards for 43 metres

10. Grindell Road from Netham Road north eastwards for 15 metres

SCHEDULE 2 – Temporary Suspension of One Way Traffic
Phase 1 Barnes Street – southbound from Church Road to Derby Street
Victoria Avenue – westbound from Avonvale Road to Verrier Road 

Phase 3 Cobden Street – north westbound from Hayward Road to Morley Street

Phase 4 Ducie Road – northbound from Barton Hill Road northwards for 36.5 metres (the western side of the triangular island) 
Grindell Road – westbound from Blackswarth Road to Netham Road

Phase 5 Queens Road – westbound from Summerhill Terrace to The Avenue
