Essex - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Speed Restrictions due to Utility Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(New Captains Road, West Mersea)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of New Captains Road, West Mersea in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 65m north west of its junction with Churchfields for a distance of approximately 40m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th November 2024 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ7011001367049 - Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while connection repair works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via Churchfields, Church Road, High-Street, High-Street North, Mersea Avenue, St Peters Road and vice versa (with access only into New Captains Road).

The Order will come into effect on 31st October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Queen Street, Colchester)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Queen Street, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with High Street for a distance of approximately 65m in a south easterly then south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th November 2024 for 13 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02231010960 - Blade Traffic Management). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while building maintenance works are undertaken by Blade Traffic Management.

An alternative route is available via High Street, East Hill, Brook Street, Magdalen Street, St Botolphs Circus and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 31st October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Thorpe Road, Tendring/Tendring Road, Thorpe Le Soken)

(Temporary Introduction of 40mph Speed Restriction) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a 30 MPH speed restriction in that length of Thorpe Road, Tendring/ Tendring Road, Thorpe Le Soken in the District of Tendring, from the existing 30/60 restriction in Tendring to the 40/60 restriction at Thorpe Le Soken a distance of approximately 2255m. The restriction is scheduled to commence on 18th November 2024 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2371335 - Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce while sign and bollard replacement works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

The Order will come into effect on 31st October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Hall Road, West Bergholt)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hall Road, West Bergholt in the City of Colchester from its junction with Old Church Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 5th November 2024 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008OGEA78288193 - Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while overhead cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

No alternative route is available.

The Order came into effect on 17th October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Hamilton Road, Colchester)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hamilton Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 35m south east of its junction with Maldon Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 4th November 2024 for 1 night (20:00-05:00), or where stated on a valid permit

(AD03160182003 - Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while remedial works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Butt Road, Constantine Road, Maldon Road and vice versa (with access only into Hamilton Road).

The Order came into effect on 17th October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(High Street North, West Mersea)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of High Street North, West Mersea in the City of Colchester from a point approximately 30m south east of its junction with Whittaker Way for a distance of approximately 50m in a south easterly then south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 4th November 2024 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ7011001364604 - Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/ or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via Upland Road, Queens Corner, Mill Road and vice versa (with access only into Colchester Road, High Street North).

The Order came into effect on 17th October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Maldon Road, Great Wigborough)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Maldon Road, Great Wigborough in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Colchester Road to its junction with School Lane a distance of approximately 1650m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 4th November 2024 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2371326 - Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Peldon Road, Copt Hall Lane, Wigborough Road, Lower Road, Church Road, Malting Road, Layer Road, Peldon Road, Layer Road, Mersea Road, Blackheath, Berechurch Hall Road, Layer Road, High Road, Church Road, Layer Road, Colchester Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 17th October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Seaview Road, Brightlingsea)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Seaview Road, Brightlingsea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Seaview Gardens for a distance of approximately 30m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 4th November 2024 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30083701640 - UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via Bateman Road, Church Road and vice versa (with access only into Seaview Road).

The Order came into effect on 17th October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(St Andrews Avenue, Colchester)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of St Andrews Avenue, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 140m south east of its junction with Weggs Willow for a distance of approximately 60m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 4th November 2024 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411SA003WFPT261P -Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via St Andrews Avenue and vice versa.
