Various Roads in Weybridge (Experimental Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles) Order 2024
On 22 October 2024, Surrey County Council made the above named Experimental Order under Sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), the purpose and effect of which will be to prohibit any heavy commercial vehicle, the maximum gross weight of which exceeds 18 tonnes, from entering or proceeding in those lengths of roads in Weybridge specified in the Schedule to this Notice.
The prohibition will not apply in relation to vehicles requiring access to premises or land in or adjacent to the roads mentioned in the Schedule to this Notice, including access for the purpose of loading and unloading. The restriction also does not apply to buses, vehicles used by the emergency services or for the purposes of essential services, works and maintenance, refuse collection, for local authority or agricultural purposes and vehicles proceeding in accordance with directions given by Surrey Police, when requiring access to the said lengths of roads.
A copy of the Experimental Traffic Order, which will come into operation on 1 November 2024, for a maximum period of eighteen months, together with plans showing the lengths of roads to which the Order relates and a Statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, may be inspected free of charge at Reception, Surrey Highways, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, (by appointment), and at Weybridge Library, Church Street, Weybridge, Surrey KT13 8DE, during normal opening hours. The plans and the Statement of Reasons may also be viewed on line at www.surreycc.gov.uk/roads-and-transport/policiesplans-consultations/roads-and-transport-consultations (follow the link to Weybridge Prohibition of Heavy Goods Vehicles) If you wish to object to the Experimental Traffic Order, or any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act or any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Experimental Traffic Order, you may, within six weeks of from the date of the making of the Order, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
If the provisions of the Experimental Traffic Order continue for a period of not less than six months, or if the Order is subsequently varied by another Order under Section 10 of the Act, or modified pursuant to Sub-section (2) of Section 10 of the Act, for a period of not less than six months from the coming into operation of that variation or modification (whatever is the latest), the Council will consider in due course whether the provisions of the Experimental Traffic Order should be reproduced and continued in force indefinitely by means of an Order Under Section 1 of the Act.
Any person desiring to object or make other representations relating to the making of the Order under Section 1 of the Act for the purpose of such reproduction and continuation in force may, within the aforementioned period of six months, send a statement in writing of their objection or representations and the grounds thereof (1) to the undersigned at Traffic Regulation Orders Team, Surrey County Council, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ or (2) by using the online form via the webpage quoted above.
SCHEDULE – (1) Brooklands Road (B374) from its junction with Wellington Way to its junction with Heath Road and Hanger Hill; (2) Heath Road (B374) the entire length; (3) Church Street (B374) from its junction with Heath Road to its junction with Balfour Road; (4) Hanger Hill (B373) the entire length; (5) St. George’s Avenue (B372) the entire length; (6) Egerton Road (D3907) the entire length; (7) Gower Road (D3905) the entire length; (8) Cavendish Road (D3908) the entire length of public highway from its junction with St. George’s Avenue to its junction with Granville Road; (9) Old Avenue (D3910) the entire length of public highway from it junction with Queens Road to its junction with Granville Road; (10) Ellesmere Road (D3906) the entire length; (11) Bridgewater Road (D3905) the entire length.
