M6 Motorway Junction 6, Birmingham - Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic For Maintenance Works

What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a) AND 14(7)
THE M6 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 6, BIRMINGHAM)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) has made an Order on the M6 Motorway at Junction 6, in the City of Birmingham, to allow maintenance works to be carried out by Birmingham City Council to A38(M) Aston Expressway and Salford Circus.

The effect of the Order will be to close, at different times, –

(a) the link road leading from the southbound carriageway of the M6 at Junction 6, to the southbound carriageway of the A38(M) Aston Expressway;

(b) the link road leading from the northbound carriageway of the M6 at Junction 6, to the southbound carriageway of the A38(M) Aston Expressway;

(c) the link road leading from the southbound carriageway of the A5127, to the southbound carriageway of the A38(M) Aston Expressway;

(d) the link road leading from the A38 Tyburn Road, to the southbound carriageway of the A38(M) Aston Expressway;

(e) the link road leading from the northbound carriageway of the A38(M) Aston Expressway, to the southbound carriageway of the M6; and

(f) the link road leading from the northbound carriageway of the A38(M) Aston Expressway, to the northbound carriageway of the M6.

The work will be carried out overnight between 21:00 hours and 05:00 hours and is expected to start on Monday 28th October 2024 and continue for 5 nights.

The Order will come into force on 26th October 2024.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the closures.

Diversion routes via Salford Circus, the A5127, Dartmouth Circus, Park Circus and Waterlinks Boulevard will be signed.
