What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(NICHOLAS STREET, ELIZABETH STREET AND THOMAS STREET, BURNLEY BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this Order.
1. No person shall cause any pedestrian to proceed over the following lengths of footway:
i. Nicholas Street from its east side boundary with house number 14 to its junction with Elizabeth Street.
ii. Elizabeth Street, its northside from its junction with Nicholas Street to its junction with Thomas Street.
iii. Thomas Street from its junction with Elizabeth Street to its west side boundary with number 15.
2. To temporarily prohibit any waiting or loading/unloading at any time on the following lengths of highway
i. Nicholas Street from its west side boundary with house number 19 to its junction with Elizabeth Street.
ii. Elizabeth Street, its northside from its junction with Nicholas Street to its junction with Thomas Street.
iv. Thomas Street from its junction with Elizabeth Street to its west side boundary with number 15.
3. Nothing in this Order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
4. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Monday 4th November 2024 until 1700 hours on Friday 31st October 2025 or until completion of the works within this period.
5. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
6. An alternative route for pedestrian traffic affected by the closure is via:
opposite footway will be available for use by pedestrians at all times.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow former council office conversion works to be carried out by Burnley Borough Council.
