A404(M) Motorway, Maidenhead Junction 9a - 24-hour Closure and Reduction of Speed Limit
What is happening?
A404(M) MOTORWAY JUNCTION 9A
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways
has made an Order on the A404(M) Motorway
in the Unitary Authority of Windsor &
Maidenhead, under Section 14(1)(b) of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because of
the likelihood of danger to the public.
This forms an extension of Temporary Notice
NH/2024/E780 (which it thereby replaces)
as permitted by The Road Traffic (Temporary
Restrictions) Procedure Regulations 1992 (a),
Regulation 7.
The effect of the Order is to:-
1. authorise the 24-hour closure of the
hard shoulder located adjacent to the
southbound carriageway of the A404(M)
between points 300 metres and 700 metres
south of the entry slip road at Junction
9A; and
2. impose a 24-hour 50mph speed limit
on the southbound carriageway of the
A404(M) between a point 350 metres north
and a point 1025 metres south of the
centreline of the overbridge at Junction 9A.
These measures are in the interests of road
safety following the appearance of a crack in
the hard shoulder.
The Order will come into force on 25th October 2024 and have a maximum
duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the danger has passed.
The temporary closure and speed limit will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
