(TEMPORARY PUBLIC FOOTPATH CLOSURE)
EXTENSION ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that THE Secretary of State has agreed to extend the closure of Public Footpath No 7 in the Parish of Ellington, in the County of Northumberland.
The length of Public Footpath No 7 which is affected is as follows:-
From a point 150 metres west of West Moor Farm House in an easterly direction for a distance of 415 metres over the dismantled railway, to join the A1068 road, 265 metres north-east of West Moor Farm House.
There is an alternative route available from a point 150 metres west of West Moor Farm House in a general easterly and north-easterly direction for a distance of 450 metres passing to the south of the steadings at West Moor Farm, to join the A1068 road, 260 metres east of West Moor Farm House.
The Order which came into force on the 14th May 2021 and which, after being subsequently extended, would have expired on the 14th November 2024 will continue to be in force until 14th November 2026 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.
The extension has been requested by the Crown Estate in the interests of public safety as the land is unstable due to an underground fire burning beneath the closed section of path.
