What is happening?

THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (BARNES SPOOKTACULAR) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024

Sunderland City Council gives notice that on 23rd October 2024 it made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all waiting, loading and unloading from those sections of the roads listed in Schedule 1 below and to prohibit all vehicular traffic except for resident’s permit holders from those sections of the roads listed in Schedule 2 below. The order is required to enable a fireworks display to take place on, in or near the roads. the order comes into force at 3.00pm on 31st October 2024 and will cease to have effect at 10.00pm on 31st October 2024. During the closures all waiting, loading and unloading of vehicles from those sections of the roads listed in Schedule 1 will be prohibited and all vehicles, horses and cycles except for resident’s permit holders issued by the event organiser will be prohibited from the roads listed in Schedule 2 between 3.00pm and 10.00pm on 31st October 2024 and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. An exemption for emergency services will be provided.
SCHEDULE 1 PROHIBITION OF WAITING AND LOADING/UNLOADING AT ANY TIME Barnes Park Road: both sides, between Durham Road and Mount Road; Ettrick Grove: both sides from the junction of Durham Road to the junction of Mount Road; Hurstwood Road: both sides from the junction of Barnes Park Road to the junction of Dunbreck Grove.
SCHEDULE 2 PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES, EXCEPT PERMIT HOLDERS (Road Closed, Except Permit Holders) Barnes View its entire extent; Mount Road South Back its entire extent; Colchester Terrace between Mount Road South Back and Barnes View: and Farnham Terrace between Mount Road and Barnes View.
