Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
A290 ST PETER’S PLACE, CANTERBURY, CT2 8BH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow manhole works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A290 St Peter’s Place, Canterbury, from 20:00 hours on 11th November 2024, with estimated completion by 06:30 hours on 12th November 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the Rheims Way Roundabout, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via St Peters Roundabout, A2050 Rheims Way, London Road Roundabout, London Road, A290 St Dunstans Street, St Peter’s Place and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
A291 CANTERBURY ROAD, HERNE & A299 THANET WAY (WESTBOUND OFF SLIP), HERNE AND BROOMFIELD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow new development works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic, in phases, on part of A291 Canterbury Road, Herne & A299 Thanet Way (Westbound Off Slip), Herne and Broomfield. These closures will take place from 11th November 2024, with estimated completion by 16th November 2024, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00, or until the works have been completed.
Works Schedule
Night 1 - A291 Canterbury Road, Herne will be closed, southbound only, between both roundabouts.
The alternative route for through traffic southbound is via A291 Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way Eastbound On Slip, A299 Thanet Way, Margate Road Interchange, Margate Road, A299 Thanet Way and A299 Thanet Way Westbound Off Slip.
Night 2 - A299 Thanet Way will be closed at the Westbound Off Slip.
The alternative route for through traffic westbound is via A299 Thanet Way, A290 Clapham Hill, A2990 Thanet Way, Eastbound Slip Onto A299 Thanet Way, A299 Thanet Way and A291 Canterbury Road.
There will also be a local diversion in place for Mill Lane & Margate Road.
Night 5 - A291 Canterbury Road will be closed at the Canterbury Road, Herne southern roundabout. The roundabout will be closed in its entirety.
The alternative route for through traffic entering from Canterbury/ Herne Bay is via A2990 Thanet Way, A290 Clapham Hill, Pean Hill, Honey Hill, Blean Common, Tile Kiln Hill, Whitstable Road, St Thomas Hill, Whitstable Road, London Road, A2050 Rheims Way, A28 Pin Hill, Rhodaus Town, Upper Bridge Street, Broad Street, Military Road, Tourtel Road, Sturry Road, Mill Road, A291 Sturry Hill, Herne Bay Road, Calcott Hill, Canterbury Road, Herne Street, Canterbury Road and vice versa.
Night 5 - A299 Thanet Way will be closed at the Westbound Off Slip.
The alternative route for through traffic is via A299 Thanet Way, A290 Clapham Hill, A2990 Thanet Way, Eastbound Slip Onto A299 Thanet Way, A299 Thanet Way and A291 Canterbury Road. For Canterbury Bound traffic please follow A291 Canterbury Road diversion.
Local diversions will be in place during these closures.
Please note, nights 3 & 4 will be in conjunction with multi-way lights and lane closures.
A299 THANET WAY, HERNE BAY & CHESTFIELD (TEMPORARY 50 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow tunnel works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to impose a temporary mandatory 50 mph speed restriction on part of A299 Thanet Way, Herne Bay & Chestfield, from 28th October 2024, with estimated completion by 31st December 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The temporary mandatory 50 mph speed restriction on A299 Thanet Way, Herne Bay & Chestfield will be imposed from 400m prior to the tunnel entrance to 50m after the tunnel exit, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
ASHTREES, HERNE BAY, CT6 6EY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Ashtrees, Herne Bay, from 30th October 2024, with estimated completion by 1st November 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed for the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
BULLOCKSTONE ROAD, HERNE BAY, CT6 7NR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bullockstone Road, Herne Bay, from 28th October 2024, with estimated completion by 1st November 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Owls Hatch Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bullockstone Road, Greenhill Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Greenhill Road, Thornden Wood Road, Owls Hatch Road, Bullockstone Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
CHURCH LANE, KINGSTON (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow blockage clearance works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Church Lane, Kingston, from 13th November 2024, with estimated completion by 15th November 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed for the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Street, Bonny Bush Hill, Black Robin Lane, Covet Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
CHURCH LANE, WESTBERE, CT2 0HA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow drainage cleansing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Church Lane, Westbere, from 12th November 2024, for up to one day, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Lane, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill, Westbere Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
COURTLANDS, HERNE BAY, CT6 6EY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow trenching works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Courtlands, Herne Bay, from 28th October 2024, with estimated completion by 30th October 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed for the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
EDDINGTON LANE, HERNE BAY, CT6 5TW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow manhole frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Eddington Lane, Herne Bay, from 13th November 2024, with estimated completion by 14th November 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed opposite number 52A, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Eddington Lane, B2205 Canterbury Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Eddington Way and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
THE GREEN, CHARTHAM, CT4 7HU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Green, Chartham, from 28th October 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Church Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Green, Parish Road, Bolts Hill, Shalmsford Street, A28 Ashford Road, Station Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
THORNDEN WOOD ROAD, HERNE BAY, CT6 7NU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Thornden Wood Road, Herne Bay, from 28th October 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Little Ruckinge Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Thornden Wood Road, Greenhill Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Chestfield Road, Radfall Hill, Radfall Road, Hackington Road, Thornden Wood Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
WATLING STREET, CANTERBURY. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow carriageway works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Watling Street, Canterbury, from 3rd November 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 07:00 and 23:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed Southbound only, South of the junction with St Georges Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via St Georges Lane, St George’s Roundabout and Upper Bridge Street.
The traffic order stating ‘No motor vehicles except for buses and taxis’, shall be suspended on St Georges Lane, to allow for diverted traffic.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
WINDMILL ROAD, HERNE, CT6 7DE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow ducting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Windmill Road, Herne, from 11th November 2024, with estimated completion by 15th November 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Mount View Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pigeon Lane, Mill Lane, Mount View Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
