WIGAN COUNCIL

(Poolstock Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024

Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Poolstock, Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Poolstock, Wigan during the period of two days commencing on 11/01/2025.

The alternative route for traffic is: Westwood Way and Warrington Road. The Order is necessary to allow a new water connection.

(Smithy Brook Road Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Smithy Brook Road Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Smithy Brook Road Wigan during the period of two days commencing on 26/11/2024.

The alternative route for traffic is: Little Lane, Billinge Road, Victoria Street and Warrington Road.

The Order is necessary to allow a frame and cover replacement.

(Orrell Road Orrell) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024 

Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Orrell Road Orrell) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Orrell Road Orrell during the period of 19:00  to 23:00 on  07/11/2024.

The alternative route for traffic is: Ormskirk Road, Warrington Road, Victoria Street, Billinge Road, Pemberton Road, Winstanley Road, Wigan Road, Upholland Road, Gantley Road, St James Road and Moor Road.

The Order is necessary to allow tree cutting works.

Wigan Borough (Billinge 56 (Part) and No. 57 (Part) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024

Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Billinge No. 56 (part) and 57 (part)) (Temporary Closure) Order.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable use part of Billinge No. 56 from Point A as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 353551 404005, east to Point B on Hall Lane as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 354394 404005 for a distance of approximately 903 metres. And part of Billinge No. 57 from Point C at Hall Lane Railway Bridge as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 354406 404035, south to Point D at the junction with public footpath Billinge No. 64 as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 354412 403979 for a distance of approximately 57 metres.

There is no alternative route is available.

These public footpaths will be closed for a period of five weeks commencing on 18th October 2024 to safeguard the public whilst urgent works are carried out to the parapets on Network Rails bridge, Hall Lane.

Colwyn Drive, Hindley Green – Permanent Prohibition of Driving

Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Traffic Management Act 2004, of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, has made the Wigan Borough (Colwyn Drive, Hindley Green) (Prohibition of Driving) (Permanent) Order 2024 which will come into operation on 7th November 2024.

The effect of the Order is to prohibit driving on the following road:

•      Colwyn Drive, Hindley Green at its junction with Leigh Road. There will be an exception for cyclists.

A copy of the Order and of the relevant map may be requested by emailing  amy.green@wigan.gov.uk.

Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained therein on the ground.

(a)  That is not within the powers of Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984; or

(b)  That any requirement of the said Section 1, or Part III of Schedule 9 to the said Act, or of any regulations made under the said Part III of Schedule 9, has not been complied with, may within six weeks of 17th October 2024 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
