Spennymoor, Temporary Road Closures Due To Resurfacing Works
What is happening?
THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF DURHAM (HIGH STREET AND OXFORD ROAD. SPENNYMOOR) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2024
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on a 275 metre length of High Street between the roundabout junctions with Carr Street and Cheapside; and also a 310 metre length of Oxford Road between its junctions with the road leading to Holborn and High Street, Spennymoor, including 10 metre lengths of any abutting junctions to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken.
An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the north eastern side of the closure from the junction of B6288 North Road and C152 Durham Road via B6288 south to the A688 Weardale Street Roundabout, then westerly on A688 to the Gas Works Roundabout then northerly to the North Eastern Roundabout to the south western side of the closure, and vice versa.
The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are required between 7pm and 6am on two Saturday and Sunday nights from 26/10/2024. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
