TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024
Notice is hereby given that on 16 October 2024 South Tyneside Council made an Order under S.14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) the effect of which will be to introduce a temporary 30mph speed restriction on A183 Coast Road, South Shields from a point 585m southeast of its junction with New Crown roundabout south-eastwards for 3188m.The
Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, and in particular to enable South Tyneside Council to carry out works in a safe environment. The Order will come into force on the 17 October 2024. The maximum duration of the temporary speed restriction under this Order will be 18 months. The speed restriction shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. There are exemptions in
the order for any vehicle being used for Police, Fire, Ambulance or Rescue service purposes, whilst actively engaged in an emergency.
