THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND
(BONEMILL LANE / BRAMHALL DRIVE JUNCTION PROHIBITION OF WAITING)
EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024

NOTICE is given that on 17th October 2024 Sunderland City Council made an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 9, 10 and 122 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), by virtue of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act. The Experimental Traffic Regulation Order comes into force on 28th October 2024 and ceases to have effect on 27th April 2026 unless confirmed by the Council before then. The effect of the Order is to prohibit any Motor Vehicle from waiting at any time on the junction of Bonemill Lane and Bramhall Drive as set out in the schedule below. Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be inspected during normal opening hours at the City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland or an electronic copy of the documents can also be obtained by emailing: statutoryorders@sunderland.gov.uk. The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Within a period of 6 months beginning with the day the Order came into force, or if that Order is varied by another order or modified pursuant to Section 10(2) of the Act, beginning with the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification came into force, any person may object to the making of an order for the purpose of such indefinite continuation. Any objection must be made in writing and must state the grounds on which it is made. Objections should be sent to Elaine Waugh, Assistant Director of Law and Governance, City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland or via email at: statutoryorders@sunderland.gov.uk quoting reference: PB/82659. If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with that person may within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made apply for the purpose to the High Court.
Schedule Bonemill Lane, Washington, Sunderland (i)both sides from a point 130.8 metres east of the extended eastern highway boundary of Swinhope for a distance of 70.4 metres in an easterly direction.
Bramhall Drive, Washington, Sunderland (i) the north-east side from a point 38.4 metres south-east of the southern highway intersection of Bonemill Lane & Bramhall Drive to its north-western extent. (ii) the north-east side from a point 130.2 metres south-east of the southern highway intersection of Bonemill Lane & Bramhall Drive to its north-western extent.
