Kenton Bankfoot Area - On Street Parking Places Order

What is happening?

CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE KENTON BANKFOOT AREA

(i) (On Street Parking Places) Order 2009 (Kenton Bankfoot Area Variation) (No. 2) Order 2024

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 10th October 2024 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Sections 32, 35, 45, 46, 49, 53, 63 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which amends the City of Newcastle upon Tyne (On Street Parking Places) Order 2009 (“the 2009 Order”).

2. The effect of the Order, which will come into operation on 11th November 2024, is to -

(a) designate the road specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice as a Permit Parking Place Zone.

The Permit Parking Place Zone will be in operation during the period when traffic signs are displayed on street in connection with any event (any sporting event or other activity held at either the Newcastle Falcon’s Rugby Club or the Bullocksteads Playing Fields, and either (i) likely to give rise to more than 2,000 spectators; or (ii) which, in the opinion of the Chief Officer of Police, would give rise to such a level of attendance as would compromise road safety and/or cause access problems in the area).

(b) designate the roads specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice as a Permit Parking Place Zone.

The Permit Parking Place Zone will be in operation during the period when traffic signs are displayed on street in connection with any event (any sporting event or other activity held at either the Newcastle Falcon’s Rugby Club or the Bullocksteads Playing Fields, and either (i) likely to give rise to more than 2,000 spectators; or (ii) which, in the opinion of the Chief Officer of Police, would give rise to such a level of attendance as would compromise road safety and/or cause access problems in the area). It will also be in operation between 8am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4pm Monday to Friday.

The Permit Parking Place Zones referred to in paragraphs 2 (a) and (b) above will be added to the 2009 Order and the provisions and conditions of that Order will apply to them.

NOTE Resident parking permits will be available for each eligible property within the Zones (a maximum of 2 per property) which will exempt permit holders from the restrictions. A visitor parking permit may also be issued to eligible residential properties (a maximum of one per property). Permits may also be available (if they would cause no unreasonable detriment to resident parking) for any property occupied by a business or charity (maximum numbers apply). Details of permit issue/renewal, conditions of use, discounts and types of permit are contained in the 2009 Order.

Permits will be issued for Parking Zone KP6 in respect of Dorchester Place, and Parking Zone KP7 in respect of Condor Grove, Crane Street, Eagle Close, Falcon Way, Hawk Chase and Red Kite Drive.

Permits will be free of charge to residents for a period of 10 years after which time residents will be responsible for payment of the charge for the permits.

Eligible Properties for the Issue of Permits: Dorchester Place - All properties, Condor Grove - All properties, Crane Street - All properties, Eagle Close - All properties , Falcon Way - All properties, Hawk Close - All properties and Red Kite Drive - All properties.

(ii) (Kenton Bankfoot Area) Speed Limit (No. 2) Order 2024

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 10th October 2024 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

2. The effect of the Order, which will come into operation on 11th November 2024, is to introduce a 20 miles per hour speed limit on the lengths of road specified in Schedules 1 and 2 to this Notice.

(iii) Traffic Regulation (Consolidation) Order 2009 (Dorchester Place Variation) Order 2024

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 10th October 2024 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 29 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which amends the City of Newcastle upon Tyne Traffic Regulation (Consolidation) Order 2009 (“the 2009 Consolidation Order”).

2. The effect of the Order, which will come into operation on 11th November 2024, is to introduce a no waiting at any time restriction (double yellow lines) on the length of road specified in Schedule 3 to this Notice.

If you wish to question the validity of the above Orders or of any of their Provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any relevant requirements have not been complied with in relation to the Orders you may, within six weeks from 10th October 2024, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
