Kirklington Road - Temporary Prohibition Of Driving For Works

What is happening?

The Nottinghamshire County Council 
(C25 Lower Kirklington Road And Kirklington Road, Southwell)
(Temporary Prohibition Of Driving) Order 2024 (N24-313) 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council has made an Order, under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, in respect of roads at Southwell in the District of Newark and Sherwood The effects of the Order will be :

1. Vehicles are prohibited from proceeding in the following lengths of road : a) Lower Kirklington Road, Southwell - from its junction with Orchard Close to a point 25 metres north-west of its junction with Kirklington Road

b) Kirklington Road, Southwell - from its junction with Lower Kirklington Road in a southerly direction for 50 metres.

2. No vehicle shall proceed at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour in the following lengths of road :- 

a) Lower Kirklington Road, Southwell - from its junction with Orchard Close to a point 25 metres north-west of its junction with Kirklington Road

b) Kirklington Road, Southwell - from its junction with Lower Kirklington Road in a southerly direction for 50 metres.

3. All existing permanent restrictions will be temporarily suspended as required.

4. The restrictions specified above shall only be in effect when the signs are in place.

IT IS INTENDED that the prohibitions respecting the above road or roads
will apply as follows : From 06:00 Monday 11th November 2024 Until 17:00 Saturday 23rd November 2024 inclusive.

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction the alternative route available will be :

Lower Kirklington Road - Southwell Road - A617 Main Street - A617 Hockerton Road - A617 Kirklington Road - A617 Newark Road - Hockerton Road and vice versa 

The Order will come into force on Monday 11th November 2024 and any prohibition in it shall apply on that day and any subsequent day when necessary to enable works to be carried out. The Order shall continue in force until the works are completed (within a maximum period of 18 months).

The prohibition is required to enable Chasetown Civil Engineering to carry out S278 works and Section 50 Works.
