A1(M) Motorway, Junction 46 - Junction 48 - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic

THE A1(M) MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 46 TO
JUNCTION 48)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A1(M) Motorway, in the County of North Yorkshire, to enable the replacement of bridge joints, white lining and routine maintenance works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start on Monday  21 October 2024 for 2 weeks, or until completed, and will take place between 8pm and 6am.

The effect of the Order will be to close, at times during the works, the A1(M):

(i)   northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 46 (Wetherby) to the entry slip road at Junction 48 (Boroughbridge),  a distance of 16900 metres;

(ii)  southbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 48 to the entry slip road at Junction 46, a distance of 16900 metres;

(iii) northbound entry and southbound exit slip roads at Junction 46;

(iv) northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads at Junction 47 (Allerton Moor); and

(v)  northbound exit and southbound entry slip roads at Junction 48.

During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.

Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 20 October 2024 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
